2. There once was a little elf. His name was Johnny. Johnny was
5 years old, the youngest elf in the village, Tiny Town. Across
the street was forbidden to the tiny elves. Why? Well that is
where the troll giants lived. Tiny elf Johnny was told a story.
Want to know what it is? Then listen up or you'll miss the
best part. The story is told to Johnny by his mother. It
started like this…
Mama: Johnny, want to hear a story before bedtime?
Johnny: Yes! Mama please read me a story! Pretty please!
Mama: Okay, only I'm not reading a story. I’m telling you a
story.
Johnny: Okay, go!
Mama: Long long ago, before you were alive, we elves owned
this entire forest. Kids would run around all over the place…
but one day… Troll Giants came. They invaded our property!
The trolls tore just about everything up with their huge feet-
(snoring from Johnny) Mama kept telling the story.
Mama: Some of us had to leave where we were staying
because of the invaders. They wanted a war or an agreement.
King Winstin knew they would not survive a war so they made
an agreement.
Johnny woke up when he heard the word “king”
3. Johnny: There was a king!? Here where we live?
Mama: Yes. Well… there was.
Johnny: What you mean when “there was” Mama?
Mama: Listen and I’ll tell you.
Johnny: Okay!
Mama: King Winston made an agreement. The agreement
was… to split the forest.
Johnny: Split the forest? How? Why?
Mama: Johnny, let me finish, no talking. Back to what I was
saying, we split the forest. One side for the troll giants and
one for us elves. We are not allowed to cross the path
onto their side. If we do cross their path we are most likely
not to come back. My cousin went over there… and didn’t
return.
Johnny: Wow, sorry for your cousin Mama.
Mama: Johnny, if you go to the troll giant’s side you will be
in BIG trouble.
Johnny: Okay Mama, I won’t go over there. I promise.
Mama: Good.
4. Once Mama finished the story, Johnny fell fast asleep. The
next morning Johnny forgot all about the whole story and
what happened in the story. That night he asked Mama to tell
him a story, but Mama said it was too late and that he had
school the next morning. So Johnny brushed his teeth, washed
his face and got in bed. He had a dream… about troll giants.
When he woke up and changed clothes he asked Mama if troll
giants are real. Mama said that they are and asked him if he
remembered the story she told him while ago. Johnny said he
doesn’t remember. All Mama said was… don't cross the path.
Johnny had no clue what she was talking about, but didn’t
bother to ask. Instead he got ready for school and left
wondering, “What does she mean by “don't cross the path?”.
He finally found out what she meant when they were learning
about “the path” and the troll giants. Johnny and the other
elves made a pledge and promise about not crossing the path.
Johnny had a friend, his name was TG. Everyone made fun of
him and called him “Tiny Goober”. But Johnny thought it was a
cool name and they became best buddies. They left school and
walked home together. TG lives 2 houses down the street
from Johnny. On the way home they were talking about what
they learned and thought about why they were learning about
the Troll Giants. This is what the discussion was…
TG: Do you think the troll giants are real?
Johnny: Mama says they're real and told me a story, but I
don't remember the story at all.
TG: My dad told me about troll giants too!
5. Johnny: Did your dad tell you what happened or why we aren't
allowed to cross the path?
TG: He told me to remember the important part of the story.
Johnny: Yeah? And what was it?
TG: Boy you have horrible memory. Do you have a memory
poison or something? Like, dang.
Johnny: No, TG. Just tell me about the important part, please.
TG and Johnny were about half way home when they took a
break at “Bona Petite Bakery”.
TG: Okay, okay! Jeez. He told me, “A long time ago before we
were born we had the whole forest. But the troll giants
invaded our town and destroyed a lot of our property with
their giant feet. The king, Winstin was confused about why
they came”. But he told me that they made an agreement.
Johnny: An agreement about what?
TG: Splitting the forest or either have a war to see who gets
the whole forest.
Johnny: Oh, okay. I think that’s stupid.
TG: Yeah.
6. They finished their muffins and cold sweet tea and continued
their walk home.
Johnny: Can you continue now?
TG: Fine. I’ll continue the story. He said the agreement was to
either split the forest or have a war to see who gets the
whole forest. Winstin the king decided to split the forest. We
are forbidden to go across the path to the trolls’ side. The
troll giants are not allowed to go on our side either. If we
cross their side we will most likely be turned into a slave or
return to elf village.
Johnny: Wow. I still think that’s a stupid rule though. Don’t
you?
TG: I already told you yes. You sound like my little sister, Alia,
asking me so many questions. And I already answered those
questions.
Johnny: Okay, I didn’t know you had a sister. Do you have any
other siblings?
TG: No. Do you?
Johnny: Nope. I'm the only child. I wish I had some siblings. How
old is Alia?
TG: 3 years old. You’re lucky you don’t have any siblings.
Johnny: Wait a minute I thought I was the youngest elf in
town.
7. TG: Not any more, when you turned eight my sister was born.
So you are five years older than her.
Johnny: Oh, okay. So how old are you?
TG: The same age as you, eight. Just I was born a few
months before you.
Johnny: When is your birthday? Mine’s October ninth.
TG: Mine is December first. Alia’s is January fourteenth.
Johnny and TG reach their neighborhood and stopped at
Johnny’s house.
TG: Bye Johnny, see ya tomorrow?
Johnny: Yeah. See ya tomorrow!
TG: Okay! Bye!
Johnny walks inside and TG walks to his house and goes inside.
The next day Johnny and TG sat in the same seat on the bus
in the morning for school and continued the conversation they
had yesterday.
Johnny: Do you think you would want to go to the Troll
Giants’ side of the forest?
TG: Uuuuh, let me see, do I or do I not? I do… NOT! Why
are you asking me that question?
8. (Johnny flinched)
Johnny: Why, I don't know. Uuuuh just wondering.
TG: Johnny!
Johnny: What? You scared the heck out of me!
TG: Are you saying you’re gonna go to the Troll Giants’ side?!
Johnny: What, NO! All I wanted to know was if you wanted to
go or not. I never said I was going to that side of the path.
Now chill out, you’ll make me not want to ask you a simple
question anymore.
TG: Okay, phew. I thought you were asking me that because
you were gonna go over there.
Johnny: Ha yeah, no. I wouldn't go over there.
Johnny and TG arrived at school and learned more about
safety and why you shouldn’t go to the Trolls’ side. The day
went by fast because they had an early release day. They
both decided to walk home instead of riding the bus because
the bus is too loud in the afternoon. Johnny kept thinking
about what it would be like if he went across the path to the
Trolls’ side.
The day after school, on a saturday johnny decided to play
outside on his swing set. TG was at home babysitting his
little sister Alia. TG didn’t like babysitting Alia but he did
like to get paid by his parents.
9. That was his allowance, babysitting. Johnny’s mama was inside
napping. Mama had a long week, working with elder elves 5
days a week. Johnny got distracted by a bluebird that flew
above him. He decided to see where it was going. Hoping to see
where the bluebird’s nest is. Soon Johnny has… uh oh… HE
CROSSED THE PATH! That’s right he passed the elves path
onto the Troll’s path. Johnny got tired of chasing the bird and
sat down on a large rock, to him it was big. He soon looked
around. He noticed everything was HUGE. Johnny looked down,
the rock was bigger than the rocks he sees in elf village. “Uh
oh”, he thought. “I’m on the Troll’s side;”, he whispered. Soon
Johnny then heard a faint growling sound. Johnny wanted to
see what the trolls looked like, but then again he doesn’t. But
he decided to walk toward the growling sound. Johnny heard
loud footsteps. As the footsteps got closer the more the
ground shook. And the more the ground would shake the higher
he would jump. Soon Johnny got really scared and hid behind a
large rock.
Troll: Who Dares come to my side!?
Johnny heard the troll and got really scared. He got so scared
he didn’t… even… move. ‘Nor did he breathe. Johnny looked
around trying to see if there was any way out. There wasn’t
any way out. “Darn it! I’m now so done for.” he thought. Soon
he heard his mother calling him in the distance, not loud just
faintly.
Troll: Show yourself!! No one is allowed on the Trolls’ side
except us the… uh… trolls!
10. Johnny has never been so scared in his life. He kind of wanted
to go closer, but he wasn’t sure why though. Johnny was
thinking, “Hmm… what if i make the trolls our friends?”. Little
did Johnny know, the trolls were 100,000 times bigger than he
is. Well maybe more than that… okay about 10 MILLION times
bigger. The trolls knew someone was on their side. How? Well
they could smell Johnny's fear and sweat. Soon the troll grew
quiet. “Where did they go?” Johnny whispered to himself. He
looked around, he didn’t see any trolls ‘nor did he hear them.
Until that is… a shadow grew upon him. Three of them!
That’s right, three big big trolls surrounded Johnny and the
rock. “Uh oh” Johnny thought.
Johnny: Uh h.. h..h… hi the… there.
Trolls: What are you doing here!?
Johnny: I.. I don’t know why I'm here exactly.
(troll bending down)(sniff sniff)(troll sniffs)
Troll: You smell fishy. Did ya eat fish, because you smell like
it? And boy is fish my favorite food.
Johnny: No, Mr. Troll. I don’t like fish at all. They’re too
stinky.
Troll: My name’s not “Mr. Troll” by the way.
Johnny: Oh, I’m sorry. What’s your name?
11. Troll: The name’s Joe. These other trolls are Bill and Philip.
We three trolls are brothers.
Johnny now has been surrounded by three troll brothers.
Johnny found out that their names are Bill, Joe, and Philip. He
was terrified at first, as you can tell. You couldn’t tell? Well
he was stuttering a LOT. The trolls haven’t done any harm
to Johnny… yet. They continued talking to each other.
Philp: What’s your name, little buddy? Oh, let me guess
‘Peanut?’ ha, ha, ha!
Joe: Cut it out “Phily”. Why you gotta be such a moron,
maniac bully? Dang. So ya kid what’s your name?
Johnny: My name is johnny.
Philip: Did you just call me “Phily”?!
Joe: Yep I sure did. Maybe you shouldn’t be rude to little
Johnny.
Philip: Well that doesn’t mean you call me “Phily”. You know
I hate that name.
Bill: Guys! Cut it out! You sound like 2 year olds fighting.
Bill: So Johnny, what made you come to our side?
Johnny: Well, I was chasing a bluebird and crossed the path.
12. Bill: Why? Why were you chasing a bluebird in the first place?
Johnny: Well, I wanted to see where its nest was. And as I
was trying to, I crossed the path.
Philip: Wow. And I thought that other elf who came over here
was dumb. But it turns out you’re dumber.
Bill: Philip! Do you remember what Joe said to you? ‘Cause,
obviously ya don’t.
Philip: Yes Bill, I do remember. I don’t forget things like
grandpa used to.
Johnny: Who’s your grandpa? What happened to him?
Bill: Long story short, he died.
Johnny: Oh okay. I’m sorry for your grandpa, Bill, Philip,
and Joe.
They all four just stood there in the silence. Nothing but
the crickets were chirping. Johnny has calmed down now
that the trolls haven’t been mean to him. He wonders if the
trolls would even let him go back home.
Johnny: Hey guys?
Troll Brothers: Yeah?
Johnny: Can I go back to my side of the path?
13. Bill: Yeah you can. Also make sure you tell your mom where you
were. Okay?
Johnny: Okay, I will. Also, will you allow us to come to this
side sometimes to play? Or no?
Philip: Yeah come on over. We’ll eat you all up for lunch.
Bill: Philip!
Philip: I was just joking. Jeez.
Joe: Well that didn’t sound like joking to me and bill. It also
probably scared little Johnny too. Didn’t it Johnny?
Johnny: What? I don’t think I heard what he said. What did
he say again?
Philip: See, the kid can’t even hear.
Bill: Just forget it.
Johnny: Okay.
Joe: Alright Johnny, let’s make a deal. Ready?
Johnny: Okay, I'm ready.
Joe: You tiny elves may come over here and play wherever
you’d like. Just I have a couple rules. Rules you must follow.
Johnny: Okay, we will.
14. Joe: All right. Rule number one, you must not come to our
houses. Rule number two, you may not bother us when we are
working, sleeping, or eating. Rule number three, you may play in
the forest with anything.
Johnny: Anything?
Joe: Anything except for our belongings. We do not have any
doctors to help you if you get hurt by something that is too
big, heavy, or too sharp. Rule number four, you may not
bother us by asking so many questions, bringing stupid things to
us and talking jibberish. And last but not least, rule number
five, you may not ask for help of something, or ask us if we
need help with anything.
Johnny: But what if one of you trolls ask us for help with
something?
Joe: I don’t think we would ask y’all for help, but if we do you
may help. Oh, and don’t get in our way.
Philip: Yeah, we don’t want to step on any of y’all. If we do, it
would look like we stepped on a bug and probably not care.
Bill: That's true.
Johnny: Oh and also do y’all kill, eat or make us slaves when
we pass your side? My mom said y’all do.
Bill: No we don’t. See you’re on our side right now and
you’re still alive, right?
15. Johnny: Yeah, I am. But my mom said her cousin came over
here and didn’t come back. Do you know what happened?
Bill: Oh, that elf. Uuh, Philip, do you know what happened?
Philip: Yeah, she died of freight. No kidding. I walked up to her
and she fell over. Like literally fell flat on her face. I picked up
the elf and tried to see if she was breathing, but she wasn’t.
Johnny: Wow.
Joe: She probably died of freight because you’re so ugly. Ha,
Ha.
Philip: Yeah, yeah whatever.
Johnny: Okay. Thank you a
nd I will do all that you said.
Bill: Alright then. Off you go. You can come over tomorrow if
you want or if your parents let you.
Johnny: Okay!
Johnny went home to a bunch of stern faces staring at
him. He was so worried his mother would make him stay
inside the rest of his life because he broke the promise. But
instead she was just balling her eyes out. A lot of elves
were crying and huddling around each other. He saw TG
and ran up to him. They had a very long discussion. This is
what the discussion was about…
16. TG: JOHNNY!! Oh my gosh where were you? I was so
worried about you. Tell me where you were.
Johnny: Alright, you really want to know where I was?
TG: Yes. Of course I want to know where you were.
Johnny: Okay. I was on the trolls’ side.
TG: The what?!
Johnny: The trolls’ side.
TG: What were you doing on the trolls’ side? And why were
you on that side?
Johnny: Do you want me to tell you how I got over there and
what happened while I was there?
TG: Yes. Tell me.
Johnny: Okay. It started off when I was playing on my
swingset and I saw a bluebird. I wanted to see where its
nest was so I followed it. As I was following it I crossed our
path onto the trolls’ side.
TG: Who the heck would want to find out where a birds’
nest is?
Johnny: Ugh. Me of course. I’m curious about things. Maybe
you don’t have any curiosity like I do.
17. TG: Are you criticizing me about my opinions?! Oh and by the
way curiosity can lead you into dangerous conditions.
Johnny: Oh yeah?
TG: Yeah.
Johnny: Well then explain how I don't have any wounds and
am still living. Explain that since you’re such a know it all.
TG: Why don’t you explain it daredevil.
TG and Johnny argued for an hour until finally they got
tired of arguing and calmed down. They both sat down and
talked more calmly. This is what they talked about…
TG: Johnny?
Johnny: Yeah?
TG: Sorry for yelling at you. I was just so worried about you
and your safety.
Johnny: I understand and accept your apology.
TG: Okay now can we talk about your adventure to the
trolls’ side?
Johnny: From the beginning?
TG: From the beginning please.
18. Johnny: Okay. I was playing outside on my swingset while Mama
was napping. A bluebird flew over me so I followed it. I wanted
to see where it’s nest was. As I was following I crossed
outside onto the trolls’ side. I got so scared and hid behind a
rock. The rock was HUGE. I then heard a growling sound and
footsteps. The closer the steps got the higher I jumped. Then
shadows grew upon me. Guess how many.
TG: How many?
Johnny: Three.
TG: Three? Three trolls?
Johnny: Yeah three big trolls.
TG: Were they nice to you?
Johnny: Yeah as a matter of fact. Oh and guess what.
TG: What?
Johnny: They were all brothers, all three of them. Bill, Philip,
and Joe. Philip was bullying me a little bit but then Joe called
philip Phily and that made Philip mad. It was so funny, but I
didn't laugh. I was too scared to.
TG: Then what did they do?
Johnny: Well then Joe told Philip not to call me peanut and
not to be a bully. And then Bill said they both sounded like
two year olds fighting with each other. That was funny too.
19. Johnny: Then they asked me what I was doing on their side of
the path and I told them what happened. Bill asked me why I
was chasing a bird in the first place and I told him that I was
trying to find where it’s nest was. After that Philip said I was
dumber than the other elf that came over there.
TG: There was an elf that crossed over there?
Johnny: Apparently. My mom said her cousin went over there
and didn’t return here. I asked them what happened to her
and Philip said she died of fright.
TG: Died of freight? I didn’t know you could die of fright.
Johnny: Yeah, then Joe said she probably died of freight
because Philip was so ugly. That was funny too but I didn't
laugh. I asked them what really happened to her and Philip said
she looked at him and just fell flat on her face. He lifted her
up to see if she was breathing, but she wasn’t.
TG: Oh, that’s so sad.
Johnny: Yeah it is.
TG: What next?
Johnny: Then I asked if they eat or make us their slaves but
they don’t.
20. TG: I guess that’s a good thing.
Johnny: Yeah.
TG: Did anything good happen while you were over there?
Johnny: As a matter of fact there was. You want to know
what it is?
TG: Yes please.
Johnny: We are allowed to go to the trolls’ side now.
TG: Wait, What?! You’re telling me the trolls are letting us
go to their side?
Johnny: You heard me right.
TG: So they don’t make us slaves?
Johnny: Yep.
TG: They won't eat us or kill us?
Johnny: Yes.
TG: Yahoo!
Johnny: But wait, they said we can’t go over without asking
our parents.
21. TG: That seems fair enough I guess.
Johnny: Do you think we should go over there tomorrow?
TG: Yeah, but don’t you think you’ll be grounded by your mom?
Johnny: Well I shouldn’t. I mean I’m not dead or hurt. But well
see. I really hope not even though I did break the pledge and
promise.
TG: You’re right about that.
Johnny: Well, wish me good luck! Bye.
TG: Good luck! Bye!
When Johnny left, TG went with his family to go home. Johnny
went up to his very upset mother and started his adventure
discussion.
Mama: Oh my goodness, johnny. Where have you been?
Johnny: Umm okay, Mama please don’t ground me for life but,
I was on the trolls’ side.
Mama: The trolls’ side?! Why did you disobey me?
Johnny: It’s not what it seems Mama. Please just let me
explain.
Mama: Uhh all right go ahead.
22. Mama and Johnny started walking home while Johnny was
telling all about what happened on his adventure to the trolls’
side. When they got home Mama had finally calmed down and
went to bed early. Johnny went to bed not long after. The
next morning Johnny told his Mama about the deal he made
with the trolls. The discussion was pretty good for the most
part.
Johnny: Hey Mama? I wanna tell you something about my
adventure that I didn’t tell you yesterday.
Mama: Okay Johnny what is it?
Johnny: I made a deal with the trolls.
Mama: A deal? About what?
Johnny: We made a deal that if we follow their five rules
we can go over with our parents’ permission.
Mama: Um okay. But first what are the rules you must
follow?
While Mama and Johnny ate breakfast, Johnny told her
about all of the expectations they must follow. By the time
they were done mama actually allowed Johnny to go over
there without any punishment. Johnny was so relieved he
went over to TG‘s house and asked his parents if he was
allowed to go to the trolls’ side together.
23. TG’s parents were a little hesitant but allowed them to go
only if they stuck together. On the way to the troll's side
Johnny told TG all the rules they must follow. They reach the
path and…
Johnny: I can’t believe our parents let us come together.
Especially my mom, I mean I thought I would be grounded the
rest of my life. Thank goodness I’m not.
TG: Yeah, I thought you would be grounded too. I guess your
mom was just grateful that you’re still alive.
Johnny: True. Come on, I can’t wait for you to meet them.
TG: Okay, okay I’m coming.
Johnny: I have a question.
TG: I’m not surprised. What?
Johnny: Do you think Philip will make fun of you the way he did
to me?
TG: How am I supposed to know? I hope not.
Johnny: He might get called Phily by Joe again if he does.
TG: True, that would be funny.
