1. Amarse a uno mismo
Si no te amas a ti mismo nunca podrás amar a alguien más. Si no puedes tratarte
amorosamente no puedes tratar amorosamente a los demás. Es psicológicamente imposible.
Cualquiera que sea la manera en que estás contigo, así estás con los otros. Esta es una idea
básica, acéptala. Si te odias a ti mismo odiarás a otros; y te han enseñado a odiarte. Nunca
alguien te ha dicho, “¡Ámate a ti mismo!”. La misma idea parece absurda: ¿amarse a uno
mismo? La misma idea no tiene sentido: ¿amarse a uno mismo? Siempre pensamos que para
amar uno necesita a alguien más. Pero si no lo aprendes contigo no podrás practicarlo con
otros.
Te han dicho, condicionándote constantemente, que tú no tienes ningún valor. De todas las
maneras posibles te han dicho, te han demostrado, que eres indigno, que no eres lo que
deberías ser, que no eres aceptado así como eres. Hay muchos “deberías” que pesan sobre
tu cabeza, y esos “deberías” son casi imposibles de satisfacer. Y cuando no puedes
satisfacerlos, cuando no cumples esos objetivos, te sientes condenado. Un odio profundo
surge hacia ti.
