PROJECTTOPIC
Design a device that measures the level of harmful UV rays in the sun
and provides information on how to measure against the measured
level. By connecting the designed device to the internet and sending
instant data to the internet site and microsoft-ios-android
applications, people can get information anytime.
3. UV radiation affects the human eye and skin even though it is not
visible to the human eye. UV radiation allows the production of
vitamin D, that is essential for humans. However, when exposed to
this process for a long time, it also has negative effects on humans.
WHY UV RAYS ARE SO IMPORTANT?
AIM AND PURPOSES OFTHE PROJECT
Our Project aims to; readily reacting or replying to people or events
or stimuli; showing emotion who are very sensitive to sun rays and all
people should be aware of the current level of UV radiation and
should take measures accordingly so that they can go out and
continue without being negatively affected by their daily lives.

4. NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF UV RAYS ON PEOPLE
• Occurrence of sunburn on skin.
• Loss of skin elasticity and
acceleration of skin aging.
• Skin cancer (melanoma, basic
cell cancer, scaly cell cancer.)
• Intraocular; Cataract and
possible point degeneration.
• Debilitative of the immune
system.
• In some cases, severe allergic
reaction to sunlight.

7. WHAT IS UV INDEX ?
UV index; Is a measure jointly developed by the World Health Organization (WHO)
and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) for protecting people from
harmful ultraviolet radiation of the sun. In general, it aims at how people should take
precautions according to the measured index value and how to protect them.

UV LEVEL IS LESSTHAN
WHAT IS EXPECTED !
• You're probably not making
measurements outdoor.
• Or;You are measuring on a very
cloudy day or sunset.
Between 0.3 and 2:
LOW UV LEVEL !
Precautions;
• Wear sunglasses.
• If your skin is very sensitive, wear
long, light-colored clothing that will
cover your skin.
• Apply on to skin +20 SPF sunscreen to
skin areas that is exposed to direct
sunlight.
• Avoid shiny surfaces such as snow,
water, and sand that reflect UV
radiation.

9. Between 3 and 5:
MEDIUM UV LEVEL !
Precautions;
• Prefer places with shadow at noon,
when the sun is very strong.
• Wear sunglasses.
• Wear hat.
• Apply +20 SPF sun cream.
• If your skin is very sensitive, wear
long, light-colored clothing that
will cover your skin.
• Apply on to skin +30 SPF
sunscreen to skin areas that is
exposed to direct sunlight.
• Avoid shiny surfaces such as snow,
water, and sand that reflect UV
radiation.
Between 6 and 7:
HIGH UV LEVEL !
Precautions;
• Reduce exposing to the sun from 10:00
to 16:00.
• If you need to stay outside, choose
places with shadows.
• Wear sunglasses.
• Wear hat.
• Apply +30 SPF sun cream.
• If your skin is very sensitive, wear long,
light-colored clothing that will cover
your skin.
• Apply on to skin +30 SPF sunscreen to
skin areas that is exposed to direct
sunlight once in every two hours.
• Avoid shiny surfaces such as snow,
water, and sand that reflect UV
radiation.

10. Between 8 and 10:
VERY HIGH UV LEVEL !
Precautions;
• Bring exposing to the sun down to
minumum from 10:00 to 16:00.
• If you need to stay outside, choose places
with shadows.
• Wear sunglasses.
• Wear hat.
• Apply on to skin +30 SPF sunscreen to skin
areas that is exposed to direct sunlight once
in every two hours.
• If your skin is very sensitive, wear long,
light-colored clothing that will cover your
skin.
• Apply on to skin +50 SPF sunscreen to skin
areas that is exposed to direct sunlight once
in an every hour.
• Avoid shiny surfaces such as snow, water,
and sand that reflect UV radiation.

EXTREME UV LEVEL!
Precautions;
• Do not go outside and expose yourself between
10:00 to 16:00 if possible!
• If you need to stay outside, choose places with
shadows.
• Wear sunglasses.
• Wear hat.
• Apply on to skin +50 SPF sunscreen to skin areas
that is exposed to direct sunlight once in an every
hour.
• If your skin is very sensitive, wear long, light-
colored clothing that will cover your skin.
• Apply on to skin +50 SPF sunscreen to skin areas
that is exposed to direct sunlight once in every
half an hour.

12. APPLİCABİLİTY OFTHE PROJECT
By integrating with our projected smart
watches, people can get to know the UV
level at any time.
By adding a UV sensor to smart
phones, people can be informed to be
aware of the current UV level.
By adding a UV sensor to the
vehicle, the UV level of the
current position can be seen on
the trip computer.
Dermatology can be
programmed according to the
diseases which caused by the sun
and patients can benefit from
this device most efficiently
The biggest project is; Our device
can be placed in different points in
81 provinces ofTurkey and on the
other hand it can also be placed all
around World.The data obtained
from these devices can be delivered
to mobile phones, tablets and
computers via the internet, via
android-ios applications and these
can be made available to people.

13. PROJECT ORIGINALITY
• According to the research we have done, we have not encountered another
project that we have designed otherwise.
• There is only one big device inTurkey that makes UV measurement based in
the department of meteorology, Ankara. UV measurements are being made
only for Ankara and these measurements are not made in any other cities
across the country!
• No accurate estimates can be made from one city to other cities. Since the
characteristics will be different, healthy data will not be obtained because of
the weather conditions variable in every city, altitude from the sea level and
the angle of the rays of the sun, etc. plays important factor on this issue.
Because the device we designed is small and portable, every person in the
country will be able to learn the correct results about UV ray level according to
the position, weather and sunlight angle of their own city, and will be able to
take precautions properly and correctly.
Furthermore, if we can place many devices not only inTurkey, but also in every
country in the world, we can reach people through internet web sites and
mobile phone applications. So people can take precautions in the right way. If
we can achieve this, we will be able to consciously protect the world by raising
awareness of UV rays for all humans in the world.
