To date, the majority of my working life has revolved around some aspect of the retail world. Then in December 2011, my life was fundamentally transformed and my perspective radically expanded when I volunteered with the small Canadian charity, Adopt a Village in Laos, in Southeast Asia. It was there that I experienced firsthand the amazing work of this humanitarian organization which strives to improve and empower the lives of the hill tribe people who dwell in the remote mountain villages of northern Laos.
