The software that is used in the DESCON Ltd is SAP all in one. There are the
following functions that performed in the Finance Department at LMW on SAP are:
Prepare the Journal entries of the daily Transactions.
Manage the G/L Accounts of the Transactions.
Manage the bank reconciliation statements.
Manage and posting the entries related to bank on daily basis.
Manage the Entries of FATR and settling vendor accounts.
Preparing and updating cash flow statement.
Updating Position of L/C’s and LG on weekly basis.
Identifying and posting entries of insurance.
Amortization of insurance.
Posting Import invoices.
Handling non-management salaries.
Negotiating with the bank on most of the L/C’s and LG. Assisting in month end
closing of financial month.

market trends and rates prevailing (rates of material, equipment etc.) so that

Maintenance & Development of vendors/ suppliers databank as per strategic
sourcing objectives
Negotiate with suppliers regarding items/goods rates along with other terms &
conditions such as delivery period, mode of payment etc.
Timely preparation of budget summary as per MRP (Material Requirement
Plan)
Getting approval of CS as per financial Limits Issuance of Purchase Order
(PO) as per approved CS
Monitor Vendor advances & payments and ensure their settlement as per
agreed time lines.
Regularly update, check & complete list of advances credited to vendors so
that credited amount /advances can be adjusted within week time.
4.4. Summary of Learning:
My time in Descon was amazing at here I was able to actually understand the life in
a corporate and that how things work in such a company. All the employees were
very helpful and was eager to tell us always. It was an internship which taught me a
lot more things from technical stuff to management.
A best organization to enhance abilities. Working with different peoples with different
state of mind is the way of enhancing strength and work ability. While working here
at Descon I got some answers concerning the corporate culture and about its
condition. I got some answers concerning the enlistment frames and learned
corporate tongue.
Descon have a Strong culture, which is the result of combined efforts of the whole
management team.
Attention to detail is of paramount importance, for example, while designing, if one
forgets even a minute detail, this simple error could cause the design to be
unsuccessful and cause failure.

The company is Outcome oriented but the degree varies with the level of employees.
The junior employees must exhibit efforts as well as deliver outputs. The senior
employees must produce the result while it is not necessary for them to contribute
their efforts. The time to reach the results is also important. This factor varies
according to the different situations.
Every project is performed on Team basis. Teams are defined according to
departments. The company displays Aggressiveness which shows that employees
are more competitive than cooperative. Individual desires reign over the company’s
goals attainment. Every employee wants to get promotion. The company is trying to
overcome this factor and has succeeded to some extent. The company is of the view
that to interact with employees in a good way to increase your strengths and to
decrease your weaknesses. Innovation, risk-taking and stability are also a part of
Descon culture and are encouraged in order for them to flourish continuously.

that I was going to be able all such difficult task in the field for nine hours a day and

did! In conclusion, my internship at Descon Lahore manufacturing works was an
outstanding experience. I got a deep and inspiring insight in the office as well as in
field work.
5. Conclusion:
Descon Engineering Limited is one of the leading engineering company in Pakistan.
The system, the management style, the policies & decentralized decision making
environment is really remarkable. This report is basically an effort to identify the
areas which need to be improved.
In this era of expertise and competition, the "Information" is the key to success in the
corporate. This means that the successful businessman will be who will have the
right evidence at the right time and right place. This statement leads to the
conclusion that the Information Sharing Process should really be improved. The

Weaknesses vary according to situations. Main weaknesses are:

Descon human resources are already strained out over existing projects.
Geographically Descon office is far removed from the potential customer
Headquarters.
Descon are not politically connected.
Descon top people are not built for long, dull and repetitive tanks.

Growth Prospects: GCC Region.
Opportunities are a lot in the oil and gas sector as it has much demand. The
company is trying to diversify its experience as growth is sustainable. To
increase professionalism, it is necessary to admit your mistakes and improve
accordingly. Descon also believes that every problem is an opportunity for
them.
This government contract can bring a significant revenue increase.
Once we are in the system, we can get more government orders.

Travel costs could be prohibitively high and in the long run can seriously
undermine revenue increase.
Bidding process could be a serious drag on our financial and human
resources.
6. Recommendation
On the basis of analysing and studies, following areas are recommended to improve
the results of the organization.
The company should arrange the training programs to relevant to technical
knowledge of product; this would improve the efficiency of marketing
department.
Meeting should be arranged with production manager for discussion about
complaints on monthly basis.
The company should focus the attention to customer services and proper
complain than doing to improve the company image in the market.

The company is going for expansion; therefore company should increase the
staff of marketing department for better results.
Decision making power should be decentralized in each distribution territory.
The company should improve the communication process among the different
departments for getting better results.
Appreciation and monitory regard is necessary on better performance of sales
executives.
Marketing personnel’s should visit to factory premises for getting product
information, so that they are fully aware the product and its specifications.
Bonus and incentives is only given to head office staff but these
benefits/incentives also give to production staff.
Special incentives should be given to mangers on Eid and on other special
events should be given to the workers.
Medical/Education facilities are given in company management but such
facilities should also be given to other worker.
Different training courses should be organized for the up lifting and
improving the quality of work for employees.
Descon employee have work overload problem it must be properly control
and employee are encouraged.
