The University of Kansas Health System is undergoing an ambitious master plan to expand its inpatient hospital in Kansas City through the construction of three new towers over 500,000 square feet. The first tower, Cambridge Tower A, was completed in 2018 and will serve as the new inpatient epicenter. Existing facilities will be converted to outpatient clinics and services. Shield worked with design firms CannonDesign and Pulse Design Group to develop solid surface solutions for the new inpatient tower and other facilities, focusing on clinical efficiency, patient safety, and long-term value.
