1. Lift
Lift me so that my feet will rise,
Let me not touch the ground.
I will not get too proud,
But I will rise to speeds like a comet
Until my sunrise comes.
Lift me up and my doubts and fears will melt,
Away like wax running down a candle.
My flame burning brighter,
Heating and illuminating those around me
Until my wick is consumed at sunset.
Lift me up and the strings that hold my tongue,
Will snap and burn with the fire you lend me.
I will boldly articulate,
Even gesticulate with hands heavenward
Until the sunrise comes.
Lift me higher and I will not tire,
When I ride on the waves of wind’s accolade.
Freed heart, freed spirit, freed body,
You and the negative no longer my enemy:
Lift me.
