Bloemfontein's airport is in the possession of the Airports Town Planning Scheme in order to allow for a range of mixed
Company South Africa. The Airport itself is situated land uses. These sites are secure, well connected to the
approximately 8km to the east of Bloemfontein's central regional road network and an ideal location for freight,
business district. This particular node is well linked to the logisticsanddistributionrelatedactivities.
main flowof traffic into Bloemfontein; i.e.the N8, N6 and N1.
Access towards the airport is via a new grade separated
junctionontheN8.
The N8 corridor between the city centre and the airport has
been identified in the Mangaung Spatial Development
Framework (SDF) as a significant growth corridor for the city.
This is where public and private investment will be directed
towardsintimetocome.
The existing airport of Bloemfontein has also been identified
as one of the primary nodes along this corridor in this regard.
The Airports Company South Africa has identified
approximately 142ha of land for future land side expansion.
In the spirit of the Mangaung SDF, this land is presently being
enabled for urban development and has been rezoned under
the category of “Special Use” in terms of the Bloemfontein
