We can clearly see the
character wearing
typical clothes for a
teenage girl. This
suggests she’s going
somewhere casual like
a friends house or a
shop. She’s also
carrying a orange juice
carton that suggests
she’s immature and
still fairly young
because you don’t see
many adults with a
carton of juice this big.
Mise en scene
We can clearly see the girl’s walking in her
neighbourhood or local are in the background. This
suggests that she knows where she’s going and knows
exactly why she’s walking to wherever she’s going to. Also
the fact that it’s hand drawn and that not everything is
coloured in further suggests the immaturity of this young
girl.
Typography
The text in the opening
scene appears to be very
childish as it’s been free
handed and coloured in
with felt pens or pencils.
The text also has white
blotches in it suggesting
the person who coloured
this in was young. The
text is bold and has a 3D
effect with a green
background making it
easy for the audience to
read it.
Camera
The camera is only set
on the protagonist
and the area she’s
walking through. It’s a
side on view to the
character with a very
wide angle meaning
we can see more of
her surroundings,
setting the scene .
Lighting
In this scene you cannot really
describe the lighting because it’s
been drawn, however we can
establish that there is some kind
of light source presumably the
sun creating the shadow of the
girl.
Position of characters
In this scene you can clearly see the position of the
protagonist on the right of the screen. This allows you to
be able to read the ‘Fox Searchlight Pictures presents’
while the girl can still be in shot. This shot is clever
because she’s only positioned on the right due to the fact
she has just entered the scene and then she walks where
the text currently is .

3. Costume
We can see the same costume of the same girl but
only her legs. She’s wearing jeans and trainers
which implies that where she’s going isn’t
important and she doesn't have to try and look
smart, she can go in what she desires .
Mise en scene
We can see the path with falling leaves
and the protagonist's lower legs. The
falling of the leaves suggests that the
film is in autumn, this may have
something to do with the storyline.
Typography
The text in this
scene is also in
the same hand
drawn text with a
3D suggesting
that it’s been
drawn by the
same person who
did the opening
text. It’s very bold
and the colours
stand out on the
blue and pink-ish
background.
Camera
The camera is set
only the
protagonist yet
again. However
it’s a close up just
her legs this time.
This could be
used to indicate
how she’s getting
to her
destination.
Lighting
Also because this scene is drawn
the lighting doesn’t really work.
It looks as if the sun or light
source is directly on top of her
giving us the shadow of her body
where her feet are. This scene is
very bright suggesting the light
covers everything in the scene.
Position of characters
We see the protagonist positioned on the right
of the screen again. I don’t thin that there is a
reason for this. We can see that she’s stopped
walking suggesting that she’s waiting for
something, this could be a friend of traffic for
example.
Anything else
The leaves that are
falling look as if
they’re picture s of
leaves glued onto a
white background.

you’d see done by a
younger child or in
a children's book.

4. Costume
The costume is the
same as the previous
scenes. The costume
suggests she’s going
out for a casual
purpose instead of a
formal purpose. She
also still has her
orange juice carton in
her right hand.
Mise en scene
We can see that the girl is still walking to her destination,
the neighbourhood has changed as you can see by the
different type of houses . You can also see the girl walking
down the street with the word ‘ JUNO’ ext to her, this
implies the character is named Juno and the film is based
around her.
Typography
The text in this scene
has a larger font
than any other scene
we’ve seen before
this. This is because
it’s the film title. This
is a very important
scene as we finally
see the films name
for the first time.
The text is very clear
with the same
aspects than the
other text ( 3D and
that the colour is
clear and bold.) We
can also see that not
the whole scene has
been coloured
suggesting that the
person colouring in
hasn't finished, just
like previous scenes.
Camera
We can clearly see that the camera
has gone back to a wide lens so you
can see more of her surrounding and
the setting she’ in. The camera is very
much focused on Juno in this scene.
Lighting
In this scene, you cannot see any shadow,
there is no indicator of what position the
source of light is being shown here. The road
behind her looks brighter than the current
road she’s walking on.
Position of character
The character is positioned in the centre of the shot. This is because the film’s title is on the right.
This is also the first time we see her face. This means we now know the name of the character and
how she looks.

5. Costume
Juno is wearing the same outfit as all the
previous scenes.
Mise en scene
This scene is purely just Juno’s chest
and face. There is a plain blue
background, this shot is very simple
and personally very effective. In this
scene Juno’s face and neck can be
seen as uncoloured as if the person
has forgotten to colour them in.
Typography
The text in this
scene is just like the
rest , however
there are 2
different colours in
this scene. It still
has the 3D effect
and it looks likes it’s
been done by the
same person all the
way through. Yet
again it’s very clear
and bold to read.
Camera
In this scene the
camera is based
only on Juno, there
are no background
objects or
structures. The
camera is relatively
close to Juno’s face.
Lighting
In this scene we can tell that
lighting is coming from the left of
her and the right for us, we can
see a shadow on the right side of
her nice and the whole right of
her face past her cheek. Her neck
is also shaded on the right side.
Position of character
Juno is positioned on the left hand side of the
screen. We can clearly see her facial expression
and facial features. We can also see things like
her haircut in greater detail.

We can clearly see Juno wearing the same outfit as
the previous scenes, however we can also see 3 boys
wearing black tops and yellow running shorts. This
could suggest she’s near a park where people are
training or keeping fit.
Mise en scene
We can quite clearly Juno trying balance on something, this
links back to the font suggesting that she’s immature. We
can also see 3 young boys running on the grass, suggests
she’s in a public place as people are there. In the distance
you can see swings. This makes it very obvious that she’s in
a park. There are also houses behind the swings.
Typography
There is no text in
this particular scene,
however the swings
and houses aren't
coloured in.
Camera
The camera is behind
Juno as she’s walking
across a balance pipe.
They also use a wide
angle camera lens to
film this scene to
capture more action
and her surroundings
including the swings
and the running boys.
Lighting
I think in this scene the source of light is coming from the
right of Juno. You can see on her jumper the shadow
towards the left hand side of the jumper. The 3 boys
don’t have any shadows.

think that she
on purposely is
put on the
sides as even
though she’s
important in
the film she
doesn't see
herself as
important, she
might feel like
she’s in the
same shoes as
many other
teenagers and

Just like one of the previous scenes, it’s
just a clip of her legs, this time she’s
walking and not stood still.
Mise en scene
In This scene we can see the protagonists foot
and knee cap down. We can see leaves falling
from the trees and also a path that she’s
walking on.

The text in this
scene is just
like the rest ,
however there
are 2 different
colours in this
scene. It still
has the 3D
effect and it
looks likes it’s
been done by
the same
person all the
way through.

In this scene we can clearly see the shot
called a point of view shot being used.

protagonists eyes. This makes the scene
more entreating to the audience.

You cannot tell anything about the
lighting in this shot. I’m going to
presume that the source of light is in
front of her and that’s why we cannot
see a shadow.

The character is in the centre of
the screen and as it’s a point of
view shot then the character
will always be in the centre of
the screen.

Juno is wearing the same outfit but we can see
2 strangers sat out side the drug store, they're
wearing normal clothes . The woman is
wearing a chequered jacket and the man is
wearing a jacket with black jeans.
Mise en scene
WE can clearly see a drug store where Juno was
walking to and now has arrived at her destination.
We also see 2 new characters sat outside talking to
each other, we can see that the cartoon has
stopped and has gone back to normal. However
Juno’ s face is still cartoon when she passes the line
from cartoon to reality.
Typography
We can see
where the

Juno has
entered reality
again. The wall
of cartoon
hasn't been
coloured at all
suggesting that
the end of the
sequence is
over and also
we can see this
with a line at

We can tell that the light is coming from
in front of Juno as her back has no light
on it whatsoever, also the woman’s back
is dark because there is no light on it.

talking, this adds context to the

she’s walking past them
suggesting she doesn't know
them.
