More on the “Veepstakes”
So this is the week we find out whether
Donald Trump will pick Mike Pence
as his V.P. Running mate. Well, here is
what we know so far. Although the
Washington Times puts Pence's
chances at 95%, we are more in that 65-
70% range.
We base that on a couple of things.
First, while Pence will be at the Trump
fundraiser on Tuesday night at the
Columbia Club, there's nothing
definite as to whether he will be at the
Trump rally in Westfield shortly
afterward.
More importantly, we're still hearing
that Pence has cleared out several hours
on his private schedule on Monday for
what we're told is likely going to be a
briefing between him and Team Trump.
And no one has told us otherwise. We
also are pretty sure from the folks we've
chatted with that Pence is comfortable
joining Team Trump because he looks at
it more as a "higher calling" than
anything else. He's willing to put aside
Trump's bombastic personality for the
greater good and we know he is not a
Hillary Clinton fan by any means.

And remember, we told you both
Trump’s prior and current campaign
managers, who hate each other, like him
and a lot of people in the D.C. Universe
think he would be a better balance for
Trump. And he gets great reviews from
his former colleagues in Congress.
We are also told that Trump was
supposed to take this weekend to make a
final decision on who he wanted as his
running mate. While Trump can change
his mind at the last minute, we should
have a better idea Monday afternoon if
all this is going to go through.
So let's say Pence becomes Trump's V.P.
What happens to the Governor's race?
Well, we are pretty sure Pence will stay
on as Governor regardless. And we're
also hearing that when it comes to a
possible replacement on the ballot,
while both House Speaker Brian
Bosma and Congressman Todd
Rokita have been making a ton of calls,
TCS hears that Lt. Governor Eric
Holcomb is not only the front runner,
but he has at least 15 votes on the State
Central Committee. Now there are 22
votes total, two from each Congressional
District and then the four officers, so to
win, you only need 12 votes.
None of the officers have committed to
any candidates from what we been able
to tell so all of Holcomb's support is
coming from the District
representatives. For a lot of the
committee members it only makes sense
to pick Holcomb since he was Pence's
choice to be his running mate and
Holcomb could effectively run as the
link with Mitch Daniel's record and
Pence's economic record without the
social issues.

And the name we continue to hear as an
LG candidate replacement is LaPorte
Mayor Blair Milo. We will keep you
posted.
