The Sea of Hands was created in 1997 as a physical representation of the Citizen's Statement on Native Title. Over 300,000 people have joined the Sea of Hands, which has traveled around Australia and reproduced designs by local Indigenous artists at various locations, including Customs House in Melbourne, the National Museum in Canberra, and the Royal Botanical Gardens in Sydney. The Sea of Hands asks visitors to their website to add their handprint in support.
