Hello everyone and welcome to the Financial Aid office’s “meet us” presentation, which is part of the LFGSM Connect Outreach.
Our goal is to put faces and voices, with the names you may see in emails or directories, and also let you know of resources available to you.
My name is AJ Rodino and I am the Financial Aid Coordinator. I have been in this role for approximately a year. My manager is Rebecca Kim and together we make up the Financial Aid Office. We are both current students in the program – Rebecca having an anticipated graduation date some time in 2016 and myself finishing by the end of Dec 2014.
The Financial Aid Office is more than just student loans; we offer comprehensive tuition planning to help you formulate the best way to pay for your MBA at LFGSM. Most of our students finance their education through some combination of the following 5 sources –
Student Loans – either Federal or Private
Employer Tuition Reimbursement
Funded Scholarships
Veteran’s Benefits
Personal funds
As I mentioned on the previous slide, we are here to help you find a way to finance your MBA here at LFGSM. Our main goal is to let you know what options are available and help you determine the best way for you to pay for your MBA. We are also here to explain the process and requirements for the different Financial Aid programs, which can be confusing to those who are unfamiliar with the details. We can also be viewed as a safety net, to help you continue your program should some unforeseen situation arise – like job loss, reduction of employer tuition reimbursement or any other financial emergency.
The financial aid process can be started at any point in the program. Though a tuition plan would be most effective prior to starting the program, or right at the beginning; students can still take out loans even after they have started the program. If you have taken out student loans during the program, we can also help you get in touch with your loan servicer and help you find answers to any student loan questions you may have after you have completed the program.
Rebecca and I both work out of the Lake Forest campus, and are typically available Monday through Friday from 8:30am – 5:00pm. Most of our interaction happens through email or phone call, but if you prefer to meet in person, we would be happy to setup an appointment with you. We can make arrangements to meet at the Schaumburg campus if you prefer, or we can setup a virtual, video conference through Google Hangouts or Skype.
There is a lot of Financial Aid information available on the my.lfgsm student portal under the Financial Aid section – including the Student Loan Checklist, tuition reimbursement form and descriptions of the funded scholarships that are available. I am the main student contact, but feel free to call or email either one of us if you have questions regarding Financial Aid. Best of luck as you pursue your MBA!
