1. What have you learnt about
technologies from the process of
creating your product?

2. • I have learnt a lot about different
technologies in the time its taken me
to create the magazine.
I Macs
In lesson we had to work on ‘I
macs’, this was new to me as it was
completely different to the computers
I have at home and the ones I have
used previously within school.
I created the cover of my first draft on
a program called pages, this was like
apples version of publisher. I found it
difficult to pick up first as everything
was new to me. It took a long time to
cut out the image of the model and
add it to the back ground, I did this
using ‘Instant Alpha’. I learnt how to
change the edges of text boxes, so that
they looked more appealing.

3. I decided to change the
programs I was working
with, as I felt I could do more
work if I was able to work
from home. This meant that I
would have to switch from
working with ‘pages’ to
working with ‘publisher’. I’d
be able to work with publisher
within school too, because i’m
lucky enough to own a
Netbook. This meant that I
could extend my abilities on
the program. I was able to
make images transparent, cut
out shapes from pictures and
edit the photos i’d taken.

4. • After taking the photos I
wanted to include in my
magazine, I decided to edit
them. I took the photos when
it was raining and as ‘Indie’ is
often related to festivals
which are in the summer.. I
wanted them to look like the
weather was actually good.
‘Picknik’
I went on the website
‘Picknik’ to edit my photos, I
adjusted things like brightness
, shadows and contrast. I think
this worked well as it looks
like its sunny in my pictures.

5. • Camera
I used a Sony Cyber
Shot to take the
photos of my model. I
had to borrow this off
a friend as I do not
have one at home. I
learnt how to change
settings on the
camera, and how to
upload photos onto
my net book.

6. • Conclusion
Overall, I think I have developed my
technological skills, in the process of making
the magazine. I have worked using completely
new programs on I macs, and I have
developed my skills more on publisher also. I
have worked using programs to edit
photos, and I have figured out how to use a
camera effectively.
