Nook, Kobo, or Sony Reader -

2. Using OverDrive: Nook, Kobo Reader,
Sony Reader
• Need to install software called Adobe Digital
Editions to PC or Mac
• eBooks are transferred from computer to
device

3. Using OverDrive: Nook, Kobo Reader, Sony Reader
• Go to OverDrive site (http://ebooks.mcls.org)

4. Click Log In

5. Select Warren Public Library from
the Library drop-down menu.
Type in your Library card number.

6. Click Login

7. You will be taken to the My Digital
Account screen.
Click Home.

8. To use eBooks for your Nook, we
need to download free software
called Adobe Digital Editions.
Click Adobe Digital Editions.

9. Click Download Adobe
Digital Editions.

10. The Adobe Digital Editions
website will open either in a
new tab (like it did in this
screen) or a new window.
Click Download
Now.

11. Click Install to
download Adobe
Digital Editions.
Follow the
prompts to install
Adobe Digital
Editions on your
computer.

12. After installation is complete, Adobe Digital
Editions should open and the Setup
Assistant should appear.
Click Continue.

13. You must authorize your copy of
Adobe Digital Editions with an
Adobe ID. If you do not have an
Adobe ID, click “get an Adobe ID”.

14. Enter your Adobe ID and
Password.
Click Activate.

15. Click Finished and close
Adobe Digital Editions.

16. Back at the OverDrive site,
search for items by using the
Digital Media Search box.

17. If an item is not currently
available, it will have a
“Place a Hold” button next
to it. Click “Place a hold” to
put a hold on that item.
Remember, click the “Place a
Hold” next to the item type
that is used by your eReader.
Nooks, Kobos, and Sony
Readers can use EPUB or
PDF eBooks.

18. From the My Digital Holds
screen, enter your email
address and click “Place a
Hold”.
You will receive an email
when your hold is available.
You will have 72 hours from
when the email is sent to
check out your hold.

19. If an item is available, it will
have an “Available – Add to
Bookbag” button next to it.
Click “Available – Add to
Bookbag ” to checkout and
download the item.
Remember, click the
“Available – Add to
Bookbag” next to the item
type that is used by your
eReader. Nooks, Kobos, and
Sony Readers can use EPUB
or PDF eBooks.

20. Click Proceed to Checkout

21. You can change the lending
period for your eBook to
either 14 or 7 days.
This keeps tracks of how
many checkouts you
currently have and how
many you have remaining.
You can have up to 10
OverDrive items out at a
To finalize checkout, click time.
Confirm Check Out.

22. To download your eBook,
click Download.
If you have the option to
Save or Open the eBook file,
click Open. Your eBook will
download….

23. …and open automatically in
Adobe Digital Editions. You
can now read the eBook on
your computer.

24. To transfer a downloaded
eBook to your Nook, click
the icon that looks like a
stack of books. This will put
Adobe Digital Editions in
Library view.

25. Plug in your Nook. It should
appear under the
Bookshelves list.
Then, drag and drop the
eBook you want to transfer
from the right-hand side to
your eReader on the left-
hand side.
You eBook will be
transferred and you can read
it on your eReader!

26. If you want to return an item
early, in Adobe Digital
Editions Library view click
the arrow near the upper-
left corner.
From the drop-down menu
click Return Borrow Item.
