Mae’n rhan o raglen Taclo Tlodi
Llywodraeth Cymru.
The Child Poverty Strategy was published on 3
February 2011.
It is a part of the Welsh Government’s Tackling
Poverty programme.

It’s difficult to measure child poverty in rural Wales. There’s a lot of emphasis on the

• The cost of living in rural areas is 20% higher than in
urban areas
• A couple with two children need £60 more in rural
areas
• Travelling costs is the largest element of these costs,
between 60%-100%

Social exclusion
• “ We have no social life. When our mates ask us to go out the
first thing we have to think of is how do we get there, or what
time will we end up getting there and then how the hell are
we getting home”.

about swapping and changing buses and a whole day out on a bus just to go to
the cinema”.

• By being socially excluded from participating
in activities with their peers, children and
young people will be more likely to become
victims of bullying

• Maent hefyd yn colli cyfleoedd i ddefnyddio a
datblygu eu sgiliau cymdeithasol a’u hunan-
hyder - sydd yn hynod o bwysig i’w datblygiad
personol a phan maent yn chwilio am waith
• They also miss out on opportunities to use and
develop their social skills and self-confidence -
which are of paramount importance in their
personal development and especially when
looking for employment
