  • 11. Key Tips for Making Your Website Senior Friendly
    • Break information into short sections.
    • Give instructions clearly and number each step.
    • Minimize the use of jargon and technical terms.
    • Use single mouse clicks.
    • Allow additional space around clickable targets.
    • Use 12- or 14-point type size, and make it easy for users to enlarge text.
    • Use high-contrast color combinations, such as black type against a white background.
    • Provide a speech function to hear text read aloud.
    • Provide text-only versions of multimedia content.
    • Minimize scrolling.
    • Choose a search engine that uses keywords and doesn’t require special characters or knowledge of Boolean terms.

  • 12. Web accessibility and usability
    • Web accessibility means that people with disabilities can use the Web. More specifically, Web accessibility means that people with disabilities can perceive, understand, navigate, and interact with the Web, and that they can contribute to the Web. Web accessibility also benefits others, including older people with changing abilities due to aging.
    • Audition, vision and mobility problems
    • Difficulties on lecture or comprehension
    • Difficulties in using the mouse and / or keyboard
    • Difficulties in connectivity, text browsers, small screens, slow connection, etc…
    • Usability refers to how well users can learn and use a product to achieve their goals and how satisfied they are with that process.

    • In Portal Mayores we follow the guidelines WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative) recommended by the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium). Some of theme are:
