3. The Karis Group is an Austin, Texas professional services firm that has been in business since 1996. Last year, we helped almost four thousand individuals with their medical bills and saved them over $24MM. While our main focus has been working with health plans nationwide, we are now offering the same services directly to EAP’s. We work for the employee, mediating and advocating on their behalf to obtain the best resolution available for portion of their medical bills they are responsible for. 12. Are there any exclusions? Bills for prescriptions, mental health or substance abuse treatment are not eligible for patient advocacy (bills from injuries caused by mental health or substance abuse problems are eligible). Bills at providers located outside the United States. What about chronic conditions or diseases? We handle these situations on a case by case basis after providing our initial service to the employee. Our intent is to assist the employee whenever possible, but our service is not designed to be used indefinitely. How often is Karis in contact with employees? Typically, we reach out to employees every ten days. If we do not expect to hear from a provider for an extended period of time, we will stay in touch with the employee and keep them up to date regarding the process. What are Karis’ hours? 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Central Standard Time, Monday through Friday. If an employee requests contact before or after business hours, we can accommodate as needed. What languages can Karis’ handle? We have Spanish speaking staff and documents in Spanish. We can handle most other languages through our third-party translation service. FAQ’s
