HC rejects Cadila plea for exclusive use of 'sugar free' tag <ul><li>The Delhi High Court has turned down the plea of drug firm Cadila healthcare seeking to restrain Diat Foods from using the 'sugar free' tag for low calorie food products.  </li></ul><ul><li>A bench headed by Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Valmiki J Mehta said the expression, 'sugar free', cannot be restricted if used in descriptive sense and without the intent of causing confusion among customers. </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>The court said There is no restraint on the respondent (Diat Foods) using the expression 'sugar free'. </li></ul><ul><li>The use of the word, 'sugar free' in descriptive sense or otherwise cannot be restricted, though it should be used in a manner so as to avoid confusion by not indicating a connection with the product of Cadila Healthcare. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>However, the court said the 'sugar free' tag cannot be used with greater prominence or with a larger font size than the other distinctive character of the product and granted 30 days time to Diat Foods to exhaust existing packaging stocks </li></ul>

Coke prices to be up by 5,000 a tonne by Dec: Gujarat NRE <ul><li>  Prices of metallurgical coke, a vital raw material in steel making, may rise up to Rs 5,000 a tonne by December on increasing demand, a leading coke manufacturer has said. </li></ul><ul><li>Along with metallurgical coke, prices of iron ore, another key input in steel manufacturing, are increasing. At present, industry body FIMI sees it at over $150 a tonne, up from year's low of $80 a tonne on account of rising steel demand from sectors like auto and consumer durables </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>Gujarat NRE Coke, the country's largest independent producer of metallurgical coke which is processed from coking coal, is in the process to expand its capacity to produce the metallurgical coke to feed the rising demand </li></ul>

M&M to sign final agreement with SsangYong by Dec-Jan <ul><li>Auto major Mahindra &amp; Mahindra (M&M) said due diligence on South Korean sports utility vehicle-maker SsangYong Motor Company is almost over and work on a draft agreement will begin by the month-end.  </li></ul><ul><li>They will be completing our due diligence soon and then hold talks with the management of SsangYong. They expect to draft our acquisition plan by end-this month. </li></ul>
