3. Testimonials
“I have been a mentor for Tax Talent for many years. It is important that veteran tax
professionals convey their knowledge of the profession to newer members. It opens up
my mind to the current state of the profession as seen through fresh young eyes and
helps me understand the challenges that new members face. I learn as much as I
give. It is very rewarding.”
Ed Corbosiero, Vice President of Tax
Sapient Corporation
“My Mentor was a tremendous help to my career as I made my move to NYC. In fact, he
helped me prepare for an interview which eventually led to an offer. I sincerely
appreciate his input and look forward to meeting him when the opportunity arises.”
Ji Zhang, Senior Associate
Ernst & Young
“To be honest, I can’t believe you found someone so perfectly matched to my interests
and career goals, who is very professionally accomplished, and willing to mentor.”
Lucas Deppermann,
Washington University Law School Student
4. How it works:
1. Mentor completes anonymous profile that defines strengths and pertinent
background information.
2. Mentee views Mentor profiles to select one that matches their need.
3. Mentor has 14 days to approve request or TaxTalent Program Director will
step in to assist Mentee in securing request or identifying new mentor.
4. Mentee & Mentor communicate through our messaging system or share their
contact information.
4. If an appropriate Mentor does not exist in our Mentor pool, Program Director
is available to recruit a new Mentor to meet Mentee’s desired profile.
5. These connections are designed to be short-term and targeted in scope
unless both parties decide to extend the relationship.
5. Experience the satisfaction of making a real
difference in another tax professional’s life!
• Help others develop critical skills – technical knowledge, leadership abilities,
communication, management & business acumen, career strategies, etc.
• Help your Mentee build confidence to take control of his or her professional
development & career.
• Be a catalyst in helping another person meet their short-term and long-term
goals.
6. Final Thoughts
• The demands on tax functions and tax professionals is greater than ever
before. We also have a generation in the process of retiring, a new generation
entering the tax field, and a generation moving into leadership roles. It’s
critical that knowledge is not lost during these transitions.
• TaxTalent’s Mentor Program was designed to facilitate this transfer of
knowledge with the goal of contributing to the future success of the tax
profession. It’s our contribution.
