Reincarnation of Dattatreya - Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh - reached to the masses to remind about the timeless personal and social values through various experiences and messages through simple daily life examples. Since generations Hindu mind acquires these values by visits to such places – refreshing the purity of mind and thought at places like Wadi. Narsinha Saraswati’s life story and messages are recounted in Shri Guru Charitra ( has 7500 verses) – which I myself have read for more than 21 times. It has made me confusion less, I always look at the life with reference to the messages from Guru Charitra. I owe clarity in my mind to these readings and messages. I know there are millions better than me in with Sat Guru’s blessings!

7. Wadi is a location where River Krishna and Panchganga merge – a Sangam. Panchganga comes from Kolhapur and River Krishna come from Karad – Sangli. Then Krishna flows towards Karantaka – Telgu Desham and merges into Bay of Bengal on the eastern side. East End to waste end it must be measuring more than 0.60 km. In the rainy seasons the water built up reaches more than 175-200 feet than the normal. Year 2005 saw unprecdented rise in the levels creating catastrophe in the surrounding area. The new dam Almatti in Karnataka arrests the overflow forward and backwater gets built up. People are managing to live with realities – at great costs.

16. Any time in a day it is always cool and fresh. The brain and lungs feel happy in the unpolluted different world. One looks at the things totally differently. Forgets the superfluous and unknowingly starts looking at the core of one’s mind. The devotees with their rush for dip bath in the river, darshan, Puja and bhajans create an atmosphere which reminds everyone about the messages and power of the Sat Guru Narsinha Saraswati. One shares empathy with the Guru and one feels listening something about things floating in one’s mind. I have never been the same while returning back and this, I am more than confident, is an experience of thousands of people visit to Wadi to be with their Guru. No doubt He is omnipresent, call him with deepest wish, he will be there with you.

On one side there are realities , struggles, confusions, confrontations and frustrations and on the other side there is clarity, open mind, awareness and confidence to accept the life as it comes and prepares one self for the struggle – even if something goes wrong one accepts the things without a grudge and keeps on looking and going ahead. Imagine the happiness one must be getting and imagine the number of families getting these experiences. Maharashtra is enormously rich in such resources. Dnyaneshwar, Namdev, Eaknath, Chokha Mela, Sant Janabai and Sant Tukaram and so many others have enriched entire Maharashtra’s mind set. A simple housewife from a Vidarbha Village Bahinabai Choudhari has composed tremendously effective Abhangas( one which cannot be broken – indestructible thought). The industrial wealth or pioneering education ways all owe it to such mindset. Bhakti ( devotion ) and Shradha ( faith) are the two eternal strengths we possess. I feel indebted to the Almighty for having borne in such land having roots here. Not surprisingly Guru is called a navigator or a boats man who helps a person to cross the shores. Dnyaneshwar – wrote Marathi commentary on Geeta before 700 years and opted for Sanjeevan Samadhi at the age of 16.

30. Just 55 kilo meters from Kolhapur, But there has to be a call of Guru. Mind torments itself to be with the Guru. A namaskar to a photograph or reading the Pothi makes no difference. Mind just wants to be there – restlessly. A drive of 1 hour or so and I get there. Despite the crowds it has never happened that I have missed sight of Padukas. A darshan reminds me- awakens whatever good that is in me and as I take in the cool fresh air, my worries, anxieties all go away. I look at the things differently – my Guru helps me in that. It is the “Sthan Mahatmya” sanctity of the place. My father belonged here, I also belong here. I will belong here for ever!
