which she identified as key to successful
interaction in improving patient experience in
any health care setting. The seven C's are as
follows:
- Communication
- Collaboration
- Conflict Resolution
- Culture
- Control
- Change
- Competence
4. The main objective of Joyce Asabor’s
workshop is to recognize the problem,
recognize the need to correct and change the
mind set of health care professionals so that
they can be more open to new ideas. Also to
recognize the essence of a healthy work
environment and reduce stress in order to
increase productivity. The presentation can be
elaborated as follows:
5.
Communication: Avoid unproductive
complaining, communicate effectively,
choose your words carefully, check your body
language and tone, communicate with tact
and diplomacy, communicate professionally,
listen carefully before contributing.
Collaboration: Be open to work with others,
with all ego thrown out of the window, be
open to share your ideas, be part of a
problem solver, ready to compromise, be a
cooperative, recognize and understand
others point of view, and lastly be a team
player.
6.
Conflict: It helps to raise awareness of a
problem, helps people learn how to recognize
differences, can help people be real and think
for themselves.
Culture: Cultural awareness is key,
emphasizes value and diversity, breeds
mutual respect for our differences, helps us
understand and accept others for their
uniqueness.
Control: In this Joyce explained that one
should be ready to be a part of the team, put
aside their ego and be open to accept other
peoples ideas.
7.
Change: She explains that change breeds
challenges, creates opportunities, it is a process
that takes time. The main idea is to change the
mind set and be open to new ideas.
Competence: It enhances confidence, saves
time, money and cuts wastes, increases
productivity, improves quality and commands
respect.
8. At last, Joyce Asabor summarizes this
presentation and defines the Nurse/Physician
relationship as a working partnership between
all disciplines especially the Physician and the
Nurse in a professional manner by sharing
problems and debugging conflicts and
communicating respectfully and effectively with
one another to come to a consensus for a
common goal and the good of all.
