10. Stan Parton
• Stan is President of The Parton Group, Inc. a global strategic service
provided for the Forest Products sector. From a family of foresters and
saw millers Stan has spent his life in forest products. He received a BS
in Pulp and Paper Science and Technology (a specialized Chemical
Engineering program for the pulp and paper industry) from North
Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC in 1971.
• His career in the industry has included:
– 5 years in consulting engineering designing pulp and paper facilities
– 23 years in advanced technology supply to the industry
• 9 years with a North American technology supplier
• 14 years as VP North America for two major Scandinavian technology
suppliers being responsible for technology, sales, and project execution
– 9 years strategic services
• He has traveled extensively in the industry having personally visited
many of the pulp and paper operations in North America and
Scandinavia.

11. Dr. Tom Adams
• Tom is an associate specializing in biological and thermal processes for
converting biomass to bioenergy, biofuels and bioproducts. Tom received a BS in
Chemical Engineering in 1974 from the University of Kentucky and a MS and
Ph.D. in Agricultural and Biological Engineering respectively in 1994 and 2000
from the University of Georgia.
• His career in industry has included:
– 8 years as a consulting engineer for water and wastewater projects
– 10 years as an engineer and executive in the petrochemical services industry
– 14 years as a research engineer and director of engineering outreach services for the
University of Georgia serving the Georgia traditional industries (food processing,
forest products, carpet and textiles and renewable energy industries)
• Tom initiated the bioenergy and biorefinery programs for the University of
Georgia. In addition to assisting industries in developing bioenergy and biofuels,
he helped develop the state energy policy for Georgia, the sustainable energy
management plan for the University of Georgia and the University System of
Georgia.

12. Earl Smith
Earl has over 40 years in forest products with emphasis on wood procurement and
management. He graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens in 1965 with a BS
degree in Forestry. In his career he has served as:
•1965-1969 St. Regis Paper Company, Jacksonville, Florida Wood procurement
•1969-2006 Gilman Paper Company, St. Mary’s, Georgia and Yulee, Florida
– Area Forester responsible for wood procurement
– Manager Wood Procurement responsible for all wood procurement for paper mill and sawmill
operations purchasing 4.5 million tons/year of wood
– Woodlands Manager responsibility for all wood procurement and management of 200,000 acres

13. Sue Andersen
Sue has earned a reputation as an authority on industry technical and economic
analysis. Her formal educational includes a BS degree in Biochemistry from
California Polytechnic State University, an MS degree in Biochemistry from Texas
A&M University and an MBA from Georgia State University.
Her experience in the technology of papermaking began in 1978 in the Hamilton,
Ohio, mill of Champion International Inc., where she was first a chemist, then chief
chemist and, finally, senior process engineer in the Champion Research Center.
Later she was a senior process engineer in Mead Corporation’s Chillicothe, Ohio,
paper mill in the area of coated paper production. She also has been associated with
a consulting engineering company as a pulp and paper process specialist and with
another strategic services firm as a consultant/analyst. She also has experience in
developing dynamic process simulations for the paper industry.
In strategic services consulting Sue has managed and contributed to many projects
including corporate assessment and valuations, biomass studies, market studies and
due diligence projects. The scope of these projects included market assessments, raw
material availability, manufacturing costs analysis, technical evaluation of proposed
process, price and cost projections, and financial analysis.
Additionally, she developed econometric price projection models for various
products including global market pulp, linerboard, and recovered paper. This
involved development of proprietary methodologies for each specific grade.
