2. KHAJURAHO - ORCHHA - JHANSI
The Khajuraho group of monuments were built during
the rule of Rajput Chandela dynasty. The building
activity started almost immediately after the rise of their
power, throughout their kingdom to be later known as
Bundelkhand. Most temples were built during the reigns
of the Hindu kings Yashovarman and Dhanga.
Yashovarman's legacy is best exhibited by Lakshmana
temple. Vishvanatha temple best highlights King
Dhanga's reign. The largest and currently most famous
surviving temple is Kandariya Mahadeva built in the
reign of King Ganda from 1017-1029 CE.

Khajuraho : The Khajuraho Group of
Monuments in Khajuraho is located in
Chhatarpur District, about 620
kilometres southeast of national capital,
New Delhi. The site is one of the most
popular tourist destinations in India.
Khajuraho has the largest group of
medieval Hindu and Jain temples. The
name Khajuraho, ancient
"Kharjuravahaka", is derived from the
Sanskrit words kharjura. In the 19th
century, British engineer T.S. Burt visited
the site, followed by General Alexander
Cunningham.
6. Orchha : Orchha town was established
by Maharaja Rudra Pratap Singh in 1501,
as the seat of an eponymous former
princely state in the Bundelkhand
region. Orchha lies on the Betwa River,
just 15 km from Jhansi. On a seasonal
island on the bank of the Betwa River,
surrounded by a battlement wall, stands
a huge palace - fort. The fort consists of
several connected buildings erected at
different times. The Ram Raja Temple is
built on a square base and has an almost
entirely plain exterior.
7. Jhansi : Jhansi is a historical city lying on
the banks of Pahuj River. Jhansi, the
original walled city grew up around its
stone fort, which crowns a neighboring
rock. Jhansi city is situated between the
rivers Pahunj and Betwa. The city has an
irregular boundary, northern being
contiguous with Jalaun district of Uttar
Pradesh. City is well connected to all
other major towns of Uttar Pradesh by
road and railway networks. It is about
415 km from national capital, New Delhi
and is called gateway to Bundelkhand.
