Dear Governor Daniels:
I/we need your help the fisherman of Gary & Northwest Indiana and the greater Chicago land area . The mission
statement of the Marquette Plan is public access with public input .
Please consider when demolishing the Cline avenue bridge that is built of concrete it can be used as a break wall
in the Marquette Plan at Buffington Harbor Pier or the many break walls of Gary Indiana
We need the state to become involved using eminent domain to get us access to fish . I need to point out to you if
you inquire they have a plan for us to fish in the Miller Marquette Park Lagoon which is unsatisfactory and is a slap in
the face of all of us who pay into the Sport Fishing & Restoration Fund by purchasing fishing licenses and equipment.
There is no dealing with them and it’s very clear what they are contemplating on doing with the funds.
The men are unemployed and underemployed they have always used fishing as a way to supplement their income
they have now resorted to scrapping & burglarizing and stealing catalytic converters. The Miller Lagoon can’t sustain
the pressure that lake Michigan can and the quantity and the quality of fish to be caught is no comparison . The
city of Gary has 22 miles of lake front that has many pier/wharfs and a closed power plant along its 22 miles of

I do not speak for the club I speak for the many men and women who do not qualify for assistance and are struggling
to survive who do not want to fish the Marquette Park Lagoon that is being glamorized at their expense.
Can you offer us/them any assistance to gain immediate access to the piers /wharfs & break walls of Gary Indiana ?
I anxiously await your response so that I can plan a course of action for the people in dire straights who are being
denied public access to Lake Michigan.
