1. The album title ‘RIOT!’ stands out form the rest of the album as it is in capital letters,
and in a bright colour. The title is in a scratchy style, showing the band is of the pop
punk rock genre. The word ‘RIOT!’ is repeated in different sections of the cover insuring
that the word stays in the target audiences mind and is also in awkward positions
symbolising the bands quirky style. I like the way that the album title stands out,
however I feel that the band’s should also be the bold and stand out rather then hiding
in the corner in the same font and colour of the rest of the cover, because the band Is
more important then the title of the album, as they album is meant to sell the artist.
Having said that I really like the way the back of the album shows the band in the
forefront and how they take up half of the space. The diagonal angles of the other
members of the band take the target audience’s mind straight to Hayley (the girl that is
the main singer). The photo is in black and white which works with the general colour
scheme of the album. They are also highlighted with a boarder made out of their black
hair and clothing, further drawing you into them. The track list is in a pop punk style as it
is slanted and in red which relates to the title from the front of the album and so does
the repetition of the word ‘RIOT!’
The bar code is also slanted which further develops the bands individual style.
The ‘Brand new eyes’ album cover is quite different to their first album as it is less
packed and has more of a plane background. Although a butter flies wings are meant to
be symmetrical, these wings aren’t as one is ripped and deformed, this shows the
bands rock style nature, the diagonals created by the
butterflies wings forces the audience’s eyes to wonder
into the centre and find a yellow and black image of a
man instead of the butterflies body, this symbolizes the
band developing and growing in style and popularity.
The title bands name also stands out (even though it is
written in Arial) this is because the colour of it
juxtaposes against the colour of the background, and
because it is bigger then the album title which is in a
swirly style and is barely noticeable, this shows that

symmetrical wings stand out more.
The Jonas Brothers self titled album, is a mid shot of the brothers and the image is in
black and white which symbolizes their old fashioned style, which is also portrayed by
their costume (suites) and the way their name is styled in a rich gold colour. The
diagonals created in the image lead the audiences eye to Nick (the youngest brother),
who is in the centre of the image representing
him as the front man, however Joe (the
brother on the right) is the main singer, but
this in unclear. Although he does share the
role of lead singer with Nick and this is shown
by their costume as they are both wearing
white shirts with dark trousers. Kevin and Joe
(brothers either side of Nick) have a similar
hair style which represents them as being
quite similar and Nick as being an individual it
also creates symmetry within the album.
Kevin also has a waist coat on which
represents him as being the more
sophisticated brother. The background of the
album cover is also black and white which
causes the brothers to blend in to it; however the title of the album is the main focal
point as it is in the middle of the cover. I like the band but I wouldn’t buy the album if I
wasn’t a fan, as I feel it would blend into the background and go unnoticed.
I prefer this album cover as it looks more
glossy and you can tell that the band
has become more successful, you can
also see their reflection in the piano,
representing the real selves rather then
their famous personas in the main
aspect of the album cover, I like the way
the colour scheme they used because it
shows that they want to sell lots of
copies, as the connotations of the colour
cold is selling 500,000 copies of their
album. Gold is used in their album title
(Modern No. 20) which is quite small
and their emblem, which is in the top row centre of the cover emphasizing its

3. importance, and the brothers items of clothing Nick’s jacket, Joe’s T-shirt and Kevin’s
scarf. The main colour of the album is white ( I would like to use this colour) as it
emphasizes the pure innocence of the brothers, which ties in with their purity rings; it
also highlights the brothers more as they are the main component of colour. The bands
name is in blue which has connotations with a union. The band name is also written in
an Edwardian script MTC font (which I would like to use in my album cover), showing
the brothers sophistication, which is a contrast to their causal clothing, showing that
they have a serious business side, but also a fun and relatable one, their postures are
also more casual and laid back, making them relatable to the audience, Nick is more
straight up, showing his higher status in the group as he is the one that plays the most
instruments and writes the most songs, he is also wearing his famous diabetes ‘Dog
Tag’ showing continuity with tours, sitting and anything that has him on it. There is also
a diagonal created leading the audience’s eyes to nick as her is further back that the
other two brothers. Joe has taken more of a central role showing that he is the lead
singer and Kevin is forward showing he is the more serious business type one as he
has a straight back, where as Joe is more casual and laid back representing him as
joker more relaxed member of the group. The ‘Jonas Brothers’ name is also situated
above their heads further explaining who they are as it makes it more obvious. They are
only seen form the waste up further emphaising that they are the main focal point the
album cover is also very bright therefore more like to stand out on the shelves. So the
fans are more likely to by this album then their first one.
This album cover shows Lovato as rock
chick who is laid back and rebellious, she is
also presenting her self as glamorous as
she is wearing a prom dress, which shows
that she is a teen, the back ground is very
dull (even though it shows instruments)
therefore juxtaposes Lovato as she the bold
romantic ‘woman in red’ creating a
sophistication to the album cover, her dress
also matches the album title as it is also red
and of a sophisticated style. Her name is in
a joker esc style and in gold showing that
she hopes to see lots of records, it is also
the main focus of the album because it is in
the center of the cover.
this album cover, is bolder then the other one as it is brighter
and the writing is bigger, it is also more rockish as the
writing is scratchy, Lovato also has a powerful stance,
showing that she is confident. Her whole body is shown
which is contrast to the Jonas Brothers whose top half is
shown.

4. The main colour theme for this album is gold
and white showing her pure and innocent
personality, her hair makes her appear to be
wild and have an adventurous side, her name is
written in as if it were her autograph creating
the barrier between her and her fans, however
it is also making her relatable to her fans as it is
simple and represent her as being a student,
like they are. The album title is also very bold
and stands out; she is also shying away from
the camera emphasizing her privacy,
emphasizing her relatable persona with her
audience. However as the album is made up of
a few colours and a small pallet is used, it wont
stand out on the shelves, although it is made up
of an interesting wild image, so could stand out.
