Alfresco Makati: Top Open-Air Food Destinations in Makati
1. Alfresco Makati: Top Open-Air Food Destinations in Makati
Great food is aplenty across Makati City’s bustling streets. The city
is chock-full of restaurants and food establishments serving everything
from budget-friendly choices to the more high-end gourmet fare. Running
out of places to eat in Makati is likely never going to happen.
One of the beauties of Makati is that there are a lot of green,
open spaces, which makes for a great alfresco dining experience. For
foodies wanting to dine out in the open air, or experience a weekend
market like no other, here are some recommended destinations:
Meals on Wheels
Cucina Andare of the Mercato
Centrale Group is the first food truck
market in the Philippines. The name
means “kitchen on-the-go” and it’s
where most of the food trucks in
Makati and neighboring cities converge
every weekend for a night of fun, food,
and friends.
This food truck market has rows of food trucks and stalls offering
everything from Filipino favorites to international delicacies. Residents
from nearby Dasmariñas Village, San Lorenzo, and San Antonio, as well
as employees working in the central business district and mall-goers from
the nearby Glorietta and Greenbelt chain love to visit this place for a
taste of great food, music, art, and for a stunning view of the Makati
Skyline.
Cucina Andare is located at the roof deck of The Link near Glorietta 3.
It’s open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4pm to 3am starting
April 4, 2014.
2. Weekend at Legazpi and Salcedo
More than six years after their opening, the weekend markets at
Salcedo (between LP Leviste and Tordesillas Streets) and Legazpi (Rufino
corner Legazpi Street) are still two of the most-visited weekend markets
not just in Makati, but the whole Metro.
Weekend markets are usually packed with residents and foodies
from nearby barangays. The small-community vibe and open air of the
two markets provides a casual backdrop for shopping on Saturday and
Sunday mornings from 8am to 2pm.
The Salcedo Market is open on Saturdays, while the one in Legazpi
Village is open on Sundays.
3. Organic and Loving It
Mercato Centrale @ BGC is the place to go for organic, local fare
enjoyed in an alfresco setting. This weekend market is where budding
entrepreneurs, foodies and home bakers can share their organic produce
and dishes. Weekend market fans from nearby Forbes Park, San Antonio
Village, and Dasmariñas Village, as well as those from Makati and Taguig
often make the trip to
Mercato in search for quick
and tasty bites.
This food, organic and
lifestyle weekend market in
Bonifacio Global City is open
every Saturday and Sunday
from 6am - 2pm.
