dBzSHIELD® and dBzAdapter™ FAQ
Q. Why is an adapter needed between dBzSHIELD and a military connector?
A. dBzSHIELD is designed to terminate with a US trade size liquid tight metallic
conduit fitting. The NPT (National Pipe Thread) threads on this commercial fitting
are not compatible with threading on military connectors. dBzAdapter replaces
the typical US trade size fitting on the dBzSHIELD end, and corresponds to both
thread type and gender required on the military connecter end.

Q. Is dBzAdapter RoHS compatible?
A. Yes, we can manufacture your adapter using RoHS compliant materials.
Q. What documentation or special services are available?
A. A standard C of C is supplied for each item. First article samples can be
ordered. Plating or material certification is available upon request.
Q. Do you support Military specifications other than those on your published list?
A. Our engineers will review any specification not listed to determine if we can
support. Please contact us: service@zero‐ground.com or 401‐377‐8389 to discuss
your requirements.
Q. What is the minimum order?
A. One piece

dBzSHIELD® and dBzAdapter™ FAQ
Q. Is dBzAdapter easy to assemble?
A. Yes. After the shielded conduit end is prepared, dBzAdapter assembles in
minutes with no special tools required. Your shielded conduit with adapter is
ready for connection to the military connector.
Q. Are pre‐assembly or kitting services available?
A. Yes. Our North American and International distributors can customize the
value‐added services you require.
Q. What shielded conduit sizes are can be used with dBzAdapter?
A. dBzSHIELD in US trade sizes from 3/8 inch to 2 inch. Trade sizes differ from MIL
SPEC conduit dimensions. Please consult a dBzSHIELD tech data sheet or the Tools
& Resources section of www.dbzshield.com for dBzSHIELD dimensional
information.
Q. What is dBzSHIELD?
A. A liquid tight flexible conduit utilizing a metallic shielding core plus a tinned
copper braid for enhanced shielding effectiveness against EMI/RFI/EMP.
dBzSHIELD is considered a modified commercial off the shelf (COTS) product line.
Q. Why should I consider dBzSHIELD as a potential solution to meet EMI/RFI/EMP
shielding requirements?
Change your shielding system instead of your cable. Utilize standard cable
wherever possible and supplement with dBzSHIELD only where cable segments need
additional isolation and protection to meet attenuation requirements.
Effective broad spectrum isolation against interference. dBzSHIELD is the only line
of COTS shielded conduits tested for shielding effectiveness from 10KHz – 18GHz.
Improve your acquisition, installation and maintenance costs.
Longer lengths typically available, which reduces waste and labor/supplies for
splices.
Reduces installation time versus rigid pipe or MIL SPEC conduit and custom
MIL SPEC fittings.
Allows for service or replacement of cables Page 3 of 4
