4. Carbon dioxide is known to be heavier than oxygen.
Hence it is also capable of pushing it aside when
released with great force. This is what the CO2 does
when used for fighting fire. The moment it is
released, it starts pushing aside the oxygen
molecules from the area and takes its place. This act
definitely reduces the oxygen level in the area and
the flames get less access to its fuel, oxygen. When
there is no fuel (oxygen) to feed upon, the fire
eventually loses strength and dies. CO2 is released
with great pressure from the cylinders holding it. As
the gas is released, the pressure inside the cylinders
is lessened. While these cylinders may seem to be

check the level of every cylinder right after the gas
has been released.
