SACPcondemnsethnicmobilisation,challengesPresidentZumatodenyor confirmemerging
informationthat,inpursuitof private interests,he ispreparingtofire DeputyPresidentCyril
Ramaphosa
The South AfricanCommunistPartycondemnstribalisminthe strongesttermspossible andthe
ethnicmobilisation,includingthatof Amabutho(Zuluregiments) thatPresidentJacobZumahas
apparentlyengagedinaspart of hisplanto continue overstayinghiswelcomeinoffice.The SACP
reiteratesitsdecisionforPresidentZumatoresignandforthe ANCto recall himif he remains
intransigentbyrefusingtoresign.The Constitutionof ourcountryrequiresthe Presidenttounite,
and notto divide, ournation.PresidentZuma'sconductisrecklessandunacceptable.The SACPis
callingonall SouthAfricansto unite indefence of ourcountryandnot allow himtogo downwith
our hard-wondemocracy.
The SACPfurtherchallengesPresidentZumato,asa matterof urgency,denyorconfirmemerging,
and consideringhisdesperationprobablycredible,informationthathe ispreparingtofire Deputy
PresidentCyril Ramaphosaanytime fromnow andreplace himwithNkosazanaDlamini-Zuma,who
he wants toposition totake overas ActingPresidentshouldhe findhimself removedfromoffice.
Dlamini-ZumawasPresidentZuma'spreferredpresidentialcandidate forthe 54thANC National
Conference heldinDecember2017. To that extentitwouldbe veryclearthatPresidentZumaisalso
determinedtodivide anddestroythe ANCthroughunrepentantfactional conduct.
The SACPcallsupon the whole of ourmovement,aswell asSouthAfricansingeneral,toreject
regressive formsof mobilisationandabuse of state powertotry andmanipulate andfurtherpolarise
internal ANCandAlliance politics.
