2. • The Honda Amaze is a compact sedan, less than 4
metres long, which will spearhead the company's
revival plans for the Indian market. Based on the Brio
hatchback, the Amaze sedan however has a longer
wheelbase, which liberates more interior room as well.
The Amaze will get the familiar 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol
engine from the Honda Brio and Jazz hatchbacks, but
the big talking point will be Honda's all-new 1.5-litre i-
DTEC diesel motor, specially developed for the Indian
market. This high-tech powerplant promises to offer
best in class fuel efficiency. The Amaze sedan is
expected to go on sale in the second quarter of 2013.
3. • Specifications of the structure and design:-
• The Amaze by Honda is based on the Brio but unlike other
boot-on-hatch jobs and is designed from the ground up to
be a proper and small Sedan of its kind.
• It is longer than its hatch-back sibling slightly wider and a
little taller at the back of the designing of car in order to
increase shoulder and head room.
• The wheel-base is approx. 62 mm longer, at 2407 mm and
the length is different though it will be just under-4 m to
avail of the excise benefits of being a small car and a
wounder of first kind.
• Just like a Brio this car is still having a very unconventional
styling and unlike other Hondamodels the design is not
subtle.

• From the front, the car has got a completely new grille to
differentiate it from its hatch-back sibling but shares other
components like the headlights and bumpers where side
and rear ends of the car have been changed for new
conventional styling.
• The car’s rear-end now has quite a use-able boot of around
420 liters which is significantly higher than its chief rival
Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire. Also there is a large strip
of chrome running the length of the boot door and this has
given the car a premium look.
• When looking for the interiors, not much of the old
designing strategy has changed. Other than the upholstery
getting a different color scheme and a bench in the back to
adjust three if necessary.
6. • The seating for the interiors will be that of
Honda’s same old strategy i.e., beige and black
combination.
• Here, a new thing is introduced for as extra 62
mm in the wheel-base will go into increasing the
rear legroom, making it a much more
comfortable.
• The all new Honda Amaze will be a petrol based
engined car and will be powered by an i-VTEC 1.2
liter mill that currently powers the Brio hatch-
back and the Jazz.

• The diesel version will also be introduced
shortly that gets a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder turbo-
charged i-DTEC engine that produces around
90 bhp.
• There will be an option of a 5-speed manual
or a 5-speed automatic (petrol only). The all
new Sedan is just 26 kg heavier than the
hatch, so it is not expected a dip in fuel
efficiency over the hatch.
