OFF STAGE EVENTS will be held on the 11th,12th, 14th and 15th
of March, 2013 at Jadavpur University playground. The list and schedule
of the OFFSTAGE events is provided later.




LIGHTS AND SHADES (Photography Event) is an event with
online submission. The last date for submission is 15th March,2013.
Submissions are to be made to events@fetsanskritiju.in.




InQUIZZitive :The quiz contest of SANSKRITI 2013 comprises of 3
events
1. Knowledge Quotient (General Quiz) (10am)
2. Entertainment Quotient (Music,Literature and Arts Quiz) (1pm)
3.Game Plan (Sports Quiz) (2:30pm)
These 3 events will be held on the 15th of March,2013.

Rendition – Western Solo Vocals
•   This is a western solo singing competition.
•   Registration for RENDITION is open to any individual/ team, college or otherwise.
•   One singer and one instrument (might be played by another person.) is allowed.
•   Competitors are expected to bring their own instruments.
•   The prelims of this event will be on 10th March, 2013 at playground of JU.
•   Time limit during prelims is 5+1 minutes, inclusive of sound check, or 2 songs, whichever is less.
•   8 individuals/teams will qualify to the finals.
•   Time limit during finals is 7+1 minutes, inclusive of sound check, or 2 songs, whichever is less.
•   Marks will be deducted for exceeding the time limit.

Jam It – Western bands
• Registration for JAM IT is open to any western band, college or otherwise.
• The prelims of this event will be on 10th March, 2013 at playground of JU.
• Time limit during prelims is 10+2 minutes, inclusive of sound check.
• 8 bands will qualify to the finals.
• Time limit during finals is 12+3 minutes, inclusive of sound check.
• Marks will be deducted for exceeding the time limit.
• Equipments provided will be:
• Drums
• Adequate Microphones, plug-ins and sufficient sound requirements
• Bands will have to bring their own musical instruments. However, programmed music is
  not allowed.
Tarana – Eastern Solo Vocals
•   This is an eastern solo singing competition.
•   Registration for TARANA is open to any individual/ team, college or otherwise.

•   Competitors are expected to bring their own instruments.
•   The prelims of this event will be on 11th March, 2013 at playground of JU.

•   Time limit during finals is 7+1 minutes, inclusive of sound check, or 2 songs, whichever is less.
•   Marks will be deducted for exceeding the time limit.



Raag N Josh – Eastern bands
•   Registration for RAAG N JOSH is open to any eastern band, college or otherwise.
•   The prelims of this event will be on 11th March, 2013 at playground of JU.
•   Time limit during prelims is 10+2 minutes, inclusive of sound check.
•   8 bands will qualify to the finals.
•   Time limit during finals is 12+3 minutes, inclusive of sound check.
•   Marks will be deducted for exceeding the time limit.
•   Equipments provided will be:
•   Drums
•   Adequate Microphones, Plug-ins and sufficient sound requirements
•   Bands will have to bring their own musical instruments. However, programmed music is not allowed .
Guitar Wars – Western Music
•   This is a WESTERN GUITAR SOLO PLAYING Competition.
•   The participation limit in this event is 8.
•   Time Limit is 2 and half minutes (excluding sound check)
•   Open registration for all participants,
•   Rhythm, Drums and BASS will be provided.




Natyalaya – Drama Competition
•   Registration for NATYALAYA is open to any group/ team, college or otherwise.
•   Languages allowed for dramas are Bengali, Hindi and English.
•   The competition will be of 2 rounds.
•   In the 1st round, the team has to be put up a drama on any topic as per the teams wish.
•   The number of members in each team is not limited to any particular number.
•   The time limit for each team is 15 (+ 5 or -5) minutes, including stage setup.
•   In the 2nd round, the teams will be given a common topic by the judges on which they have to put up a
    short play.
•   The time duration for the 2nd round is 5 – 7 minutes.
Think Twice – Debate Competition
•   There will be only 10 teams for the event, registration is on first come first serve basis.
•   The team size is 2, one member speaking for the topic and another member against it.
•   The time allotted per speaker is 4 + 1 minutes.
•   Exceeding the time limit will result in penalty.
•   The speaker who sets the motion first will be allowed to wrap up at the end of the debate.
•   The participants will not be allowed to read out from any material but will be allowed to carry plain
    papers to jot down any points if required.

Radio J.U.
•   This event is a Mock Radio Jockey Event.
•   The time limit for each contestant is 4+1 minutes.
•   The objective of the participant is to present a “5 minute Radio Show”.
•   The judgment will be done on how much enthusiasm was created among the judges and the
    audience by the show presented by the contestant.


Antakshari
•   There will be two rounds: prelims and finals.
•   Team size is three.
•   The prelims will be a written test.
•   The finals will be a conventional Antakshari format, rules to be declared during the event.
Moonwalk – Western Choreography
•   This is a WESTERN dance completion in three categories
•   Solo
•   Duet
•   Group
•   Registration for MOONWALK is open to any individual or group, college or otherwise.
•   Time limit for solo category is 5+1 minutes, from empty stage to empty stage.
•   Time limit for duet category is 5+1 minutes, from empty stage to empty stage
•   Time limit for group category is 6+2 minutes, from empty stage to empty stage.
•   Marks will be deducted for exceeding the time limit.
•   There is no limit on the maximum number of participants in a group.
•   Accessories, costumes have to be arranged by participants.
•   The performance music has to be brought by the participants in a CD.

Ghoongrooz – Eastern Choreography
•   This is a EASTERN dance completion in two categories
•   Solo/Duet
•   Group
•   Registration for GHOONGROOZ is open to any individual or group, college or otherwise.
•   Time limit for solo/duet category is 5+2 minutes, from empty stage to empty stage.
•   Time limit for group category is 6+2 minutes, from empty stage to empty stage.
•   Marks will be deducted for exceeding the time limit.
•   There is no limit on the maximum number of participants in a group.
•   Accessories, costumes have to be arranged by participants.
•   The performance music has to be brought by the participants in a CD.
Creative Writing Competitions
•    This event has 4 categories, namely:
1.    Bengali Prose
2.    Bengali Poetry
3.    English Prose
4.    English Poetry
•    Registration for this event is open only to college students.
•    The colleges may send any number of contestants
•    The contestants are expected to bring their own pen, pencils etc.
•    The paper will be supplied at the venue.
•    The topic will be announced on spot before the competition.
•    The contestants will not be allowed to refer to any material for any sort of help.



Cartooning/Poster Painting/T-Shirt Painting/Rangoli
•    Registration for this event is open only to college students.
•    The colleges may send any number of contestants.
•    Rangoli Event is an event of 2 – member teams.
•    The contestants are expected to bring their own colors and brushes.
•    The paper/T-shirt will be supplied at the venue.
•    The topic will be announced an hour before the competition.
•    The contestants will not be allowed to refer to any material for any sort of help.
•    The decision of the judges is final and binding.
Face Painting and Hair Styling
•   There must be a team of an artist and a model.
•   The contestants are expected to bring any material that they may need.
•   No material will be supplied at the venue.
•   The topic will be given an hour before the competition.

Ad - Mag – Zap
•   This event consists of 2 rounds.
•   The 1st round will be an online round.
•   The participants interested to participate in this event are requested to send in a mail mentioning
    the Participant Name, College Name and Contact Number with the subject “Ad-Mag-Zap
    Registration” to events@fetsanskritiju.in by the 11th of March, 2013.
•   The 1st round will be an advertisement designing competition. The topic of which will be
    communicated through e-mail.
•   The 2nd round will an on-spot event on Magazine Cover Designing.
•   The decision of the judges is final and binding.

Medley
•   The team size for this event will be 2.
•   There will be more than 3 rounds and teams might be eliminated in subsequent rounds.
•   The exact details and the rules of the rounds will be announced during the event.
•   Any sort of misconduct during this event can lead to disqualification.
•   The decision of the judge/host is final and binding.
InQUIZZitive – Game Plan – Knowledge Quotient – Entertainment Quotient
• GAME PLAN is the sports quiz and KNOWLEDGE QUOTIENT is the general quiz, while
  ENTERTAINMENT QUOTIENT is a quiz based on Music, Arts, Literature and Entertainment.
• The team size for both the quizzes is 3 members.
• The quizzes will be held in two rounds viz. Prelims and Finals.
• The exact rules for the rounds will be announced during the event.
• The decision of the quizmaster is final and binding.

Lights N Shades – Photography Competition
•   The theme of the contest is Open. Colour Photographs has to be submitted
•   Each participant can submit a maximum of 3 photographs
•   Photographs should be in JPEG or JPG format.
•   Resolution: 240-300 dpi and Size: 15” x 10”.
•   No hard copies have to be submitted. Only online submission is required.
•   Entries have to be mailed to events@fetsanskritiju.in before 14th March, 2013 (before
    11pm).
•   The subject of the mail should be “Lights N Shades Submission”.
•   With the mail attach a notepad file with your name, college name and contact number
•   The file name of a photograph should be “Title of Photograph.jpeg”
•   Results will be announced via mail on the 16th of March, 2013.
•   Editing in the forms of Brightness, Contrast and Sharpness modifications allowed.
Tug Of War
Registration for TUG OF WAR is open to teams from colleges only.
All members of a team do not have to be from the same college.
Colleges can send more than one team for this event.
Registration for this event is on „first come first serve‟ basis.
The team size is 8.
Standard TUG OF WAR rules apply to this event.
Any sort of misconduct during this event can lead to disqualification.

Jam It – Western bands • Registration for JAM IT is open to any western band, college or otherwise. • The prelims of this event will be on 10th March, 2013 at playground of JU. • Time limit during prelims is 10+2 minutes, inclusive of sound check. • 8 bands will qualify to the finals. • Time limit during finals is 12+3 minutes, inclusive of sound check. • Marks will be deducted for exceeding the time limit. • Equipments provided will be: • Drums • Adequate Microphones, plug-ins and sufficient sound requirements • Bands will have to bring their own musical instruments. However, programmed music is not allowed.

Tarana – Eastern Solo Vocals • This is an eastern solo singing competition. • Registration for TARANA is open to any individual/ team, college or otherwise. • One singer and one instrument (might be played by another person.) is allowed. • Competitors are expected to bring their own instruments. • The prelims of this event will be on 11th March, 2013 at playground of JU. • Time limit during prelims is 5+1 minutes, inclusive of sound check, or 2 songs, whichever is less. • 8 individuals/teams will qualify to the finals. • Time limit during finals is 7+1 minutes, inclusive of sound check, or 2 songs, whichever is less. • Marks will be deducted for exceeding the time limit. Raag N Josh – Eastern bands • Registration for RAAG N JOSH is open to any eastern band, college or otherwise. • The prelims of this event will be on 11th March, 2013 at playground of JU. • Time limit during prelims is 10+2 minutes, inclusive of sound check. • 8 bands will qualify to the finals. • Time limit during finals is 12+3 minutes, inclusive of sound check. • Marks will be deducted for exceeding the time limit. • Equipments provided will be: • Drums • Adequate Microphones, Plug-ins and sufficient sound requirements • Bands will have to bring their own musical instruments. Guitar Wars – Western Music • This is a WESTERN GUITAR SOLO PLAYING Competition. • The participation limit in this event is 8. • Time Limit is 2 and half minutes (excluding sound check) • Open registration for all participants, • Rhythm, Drums and BASS will be provided. Natyalaya – Drama Competition • Registration for NATYALAYA is open to any group/ team, college or otherwise. • Languages allowed for dramas are Bengali, Hindi and English. • The competition will be of 2 rounds. • In the 1st round, the team has to be put up a drama on any topic as per the teams wish. • The number of members in each team is not limited to any particular number. • The time limit for each team is 15 (+ 5 or -5) minutes, including stage setup. • In the 2nd round, the teams will be given a common topic by the judges on which they have to put up a short play. • The time duration for the 2nd round is 5 – 7 minutes.

Think Twice – Debate Competition • There will be only 10 teams for the event, registration is on first come first serve basis. • The team size is 2, one member speaking for the topic and another member against it. • The time allotted per speaker is 4 + 1 minutes. • Exceeding the time limit will result in penalty. • The speaker who sets the motion first will be allowed to wrap up at the end of the debate. • The participants will not be allowed to read out from any material but will be allowed to carry plain papers to jot down any points if required. Radio J.U. • This event is a Mock Radio Jockey Event. • The time limit for each contestant is 4+1 minutes. • The objective of the participant is to present a “5 minute Radio Show”. • The judgment will be done on how much enthusiasm was created among the judges and the audience by the show presented by the contestant. Antakshari • There will be two rounds: prelims and finals. • Team size is three. • The prelims will be a written test. • The finals will be a conventional Antakshari format, rules to be declared during the event.

Moonwalk – Western Choreography • This is a WESTERN dance completion in three categories • Solo • Duet • Group • Registration for MOONWALK is open to any individual or group, college or otherwise. • Time limit for solo category is 5+1 minutes, from empty stage to empty stage. • Time limit for duet category is 5+1 minutes, from empty stage to empty stage • Time limit for group category is 6+2 minutes, from empty stage to empty stage. • Marks will be deducted for exceeding the time limit. • There is no limit on the maximum number of participants in a group. • Accessories, costumes have to be arranged by participants. • The performance music has to be brought by the participants in a CD. Ghoongrooz – Eastern Choreography • This is a EASTERN dance completion in two categories • Solo/Duet • Group • Registration for GHOONGROOZ is open to any individual or group, college or otherwise. • Time limit for solo/duet category is 5+2 minutes, from empty stage to empty stage. • Time limit for group category is 6+2 minutes, from empty stage to empty stage. • Marks will be deducted for exceeding the time limit. • There is no limit on the maximum number of participants in a group. • Accessories, costumes have to be arranged by participants. • The performance music has to be brought by the participants in a CD.
  • 13. Creative Writing Competitions • This event has 4 categories, namely: 1. Bengali Prose 2. Bengali Poetry 3. English Prose 4. English Poetry • Registration for this event is open only to college students. • The colleges may send any number of contestants • The contestants are expected to bring their own pen, pencils etc. • The paper will be supplied at the venue. • The topic will be announced on spot before the competition. • The contestants will not be allowed to refer to any material for any sort of help. Cartooning/Poster Painting/T-Shirt Painting/Rangoli • Registration for this event is open only to college students. • The colleges may send any number of contestants. • Rangoli Event is an event of 2 – member teams. • The contestants are expected to bring their own colors and brushes. • The paper/T-shirt will be supplied at the venue. • The topic will be announced an hour before the competition. • The contestants will not be allowed to refer to any material for any sort of help. • The decision of the judges is final and binding.

Face Painting and Hair Styling • There must be a team of an artist and a model. • The contestants are expected to bring any material that they may need. • No material will be supplied at the venue. • The topic will be given an hour before the competition. Ad - Mag – Zap • This event consists of 2 rounds. • The 1st round will be an online round. • The participants interested to participate in this event are requested to send in a mail mentioning the Participant Name, College Name and Contact Number with the subject “Ad-Mag-Zap Registration” to events@fetsanskritiju.in by the 11th of March, 2013. • The 1st round will be an advertisement designing competition. The topic of which will be communicated through e-mail. • The 2nd round will an on-spot event on Magazine Cover Designing. • The decision of the judges is final and binding. Medley • The team size for this event will be 2. • There will be more than 3 rounds and teams might be eliminated in subsequent rounds. • The exact details and the rules of the rounds will be announced during the event. • Any sort of misconduct during this event can lead to disqualification. • The decision of the judge/host is final and binding.

InQUIZZitive – Game Plan – Knowledge Quotient – Entertainment Quotient • GAME PLAN is the sports quiz and KNOWLEDGE QUOTIENT is the general quiz, while ENTERTAINMENT QUOTIENT is a quiz based on Music, Arts, Literature and Entertainment. • The team size for both the quizzes is 3 members. • The quizzes will be held in two rounds viz. Prelims and Finals. • The exact rules for the rounds will be announced during the event. • The decision of the quizmaster is final and binding. Lights N Shades – Photography Competition • The theme of the contest is Open. Colour Photographs has to be submitted • Each participant can submit a maximum of 3 photographs • Photographs should be in JPEG or JPG format. • Resolution: 240-300 dpi and Size: 15” x 10”. • No hard copies have to be submitted. Only online submission is required. • Entries have to be mailed to events@fetsanskritiju.in before 14th March, 2013 (before 11pm). • The subject of the mail should be “Lights N Shades Submission”. • With the mail attach a notepad file with your name, college name and contact number • The file name of a photograph should be “Title of Photograph.jpeg” • Results will be announced via mail on the 16th of March, 2013. • Editing in the forms of Brightness, Contrast and Sharpness modifications allowed.
  • 16. Tug Of War Registration for TUG OF WAR is open to teams from colleges only. All members of a team do not have to be from the same college. Colleges can send more than one team for this event. Registration for this event is on „first come first serve‟ basis. The team size is 8. Standard TUG OF WAR rules apply to this event.
