O Visit proposed sites with client, walkaround & discuss options
O discuss with client considered project budget & timescale
O discuss with client, how they would like the place to look
O discuss with client, how they would like the place to be perceived by customers
O discuss with client, how they would like the place to be remembered by customers
O discuss with client, how they would see the business managed
Sites
O review each site, and briefly scope out potential operations
O consider rent & rates impact to business
O review immediate, secondary & tertiary footfalls
O review whole area within 500m radius
O review of trading levels of other bar, restaurant, leisure, entertainment venues
within immediate area
O general review all other bar, restaurant, leisure, entertainment venues within
immediate area, by style, offering, price, quality, service, etc
O review presence & success of national leisure brands
O review impact of discounting within immediate area
O review each site from a disabled & non smoking perspective
O consider all trading opportunities for each site
O consider means of maximise turnover/profitability
City
O review generally trading patterns/styles across the whole city, including more local
“circuits” and map out individual circuits
O review impact of discounting within city
O review various markets city wide eg students, theatre circuit, shopping etc
O review transport/taxi infrastructure [where possible]
O “what’s missing”
O future developments within city
O other important observations & consideration
Report
O report detailing all observations & considerations leading to a recommendation on
suitable style of bar operation for each site and its viability.
