Samsung Galaxy Precedent Review Straight Talk 's First Android Phone . Samsung Galaxy Precedent Review

In mid-August, rumors began swirling about a possible Android phone headed to Straight Talk. Shortly thereafter Straight Talk confirmed these rumors on their Facebook page, and on September 1st announced that the Samsung Galaxy Precedent is available for pre-order and will ship in 2-3 weeks. In the following presentation, I've put together some details I've been able to scrape together about this phone.

Advantages
First (and currently the only) Android phone on Straight Talk
Samsung has a reputation for dependable Android handsets
3G and WiFi for fast connections
Android marketplace includes over 250,000 apps - get access to the same apps available on high-priced contract plans!
It's prepaid - you'll save a lot of money compared to a similar phone from one of the "big four" carriers

Disadvantages
First Android phone on Straight Talk
Uses Sprint network - in many areas their coverage is poorer than AT&T and Verizon
Can only be used with the more expensive of Straight Talk's two plans. However, that's still very cheap for unlimited data.
Camera is only 2.0 megapixels
3.2 inches is on the small side for a touch-screen

The Bottom Line
I think this is the beginning of something very big for Straight Talk, and I'm sure this won't be the last Android device we'll see from them.

Honestly, I'm not impressed with the specs on this device, nor the fact that it's on Sprint, but if you're a current Straight Talk customer looking to get your feet wet with an Android device, or if you're a postpaid customer looking to trim some fat from your monthly budget, I think you could do a lot worse than the Samsung Galaxy Precedent from Straight Talk. I know I'll be giving it a try!
