Bef ore you start packing your bags f or India, consult your doctor. You must take some health precautions.
Your routine vaccinations should be checked which includes measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, diphtheriatetanus-pertussis vaccine, varicella (chickenpox) vaccine etc.
In India you can get af f ected by Hepatitis A and typhoid because the outside f ood and water is not quite
suitable f or f oreigners. T here are more like Malaria- Like all other tropical countries, India too has a rich
mosquito habitat. So make sure you repel them anyway.
Japanese Encephalitis- T he vaccine f or this always depends on your travel plans like where you are going in
India, in what time and how long you will stay there. So it is better to consult your doctor especially if you are
planning to visit the rural areas.
Yellow Fever- T here is no risk of yellow f ever in India. T he government of India requires proof of yellow f ever

T here are some other precautions you must take:

India consists of all kinds of natural environment. Mountains, oceans, desert, f orests etc. So you need to be

If your plan is to visit northern territories, drink enough water, beware of acute mountain sickness. You need

if you are going to Ladakh range and beware of dehydration, snow blindness, cold, altitude trouble, f ood and
water quality and bed bugs if you are planning to go to the Kashmir side.
If your plans are f or western side and the deserts (Rajasthan, Gujarat etc.), you can get dehydrated and
need to carry f resh water with you all the time, always buy packaged drinking water. Instead of having juice f rom
roadside vendors, go f or branded juice-cans. Take care of your f ood; make sure it’s cooked well.
For South and Eastern India, make sure you drink plenty of bottled water; you can have coconut water as it’s
naturally sterilized.
Have plain rice or Khichdi as they are easily digestible.Don’t skip your daily exercise and it’s better to stick to
veggies but if you take non vegetarian f ood make sure it’s cooked well. It’s better to avoid spicy f ood soon
af ter you arrive in India, give time to get used to with the country of spices. Your Journey to India will be great if
