Reflection
In a state of excitement or tension, a person can
say or do the most silly or absurd thing. Let us
train our mind to have calmness, concentration,
clarity, tranquility and equanimity ... a mind so
well- directed and strong would not be shaken by
the 8 Worldly Winds of Pleasure and Pain, Praise
and Blame, Gain and Loss, Honor and Dishonor.

An Anniversary Wish

were celebrating their 35th wedding
Anniversary. During their party, a
wizard appeared to congratulate
them and grant them each one wish.
The wife wanted to travel around the
world and poof โ the wife had tickets
in her hand for a world cruise.
Next, the wizard asked the husband
what he wanted. He said, โI wish I
had a wife 30 years younger than me.โ
The wizard picked up his wand and poof โ the
husband was 90 years old.
Reflection
Unwholesome wishes sometimes come true in a
most unexpected manner to the disappointment or
detriment of the wisher. Beware of the mental
defilements of desire and craving, aversion and
delusion. They will cause you real suffering. Let
us strive in the Dhamma
to reduce our greed, covetousness, attachment
and grasping. Let us learn to accept the things
that come naturally upon us. Then we shall have
contented and peaceful minds.
