II.    Prepare a set of study notes based upon the above readings.

III.   Answer the following questions in complete sentences.

       a.     How did the women of early 19th Century Canada define themselves?
       b.     What status was given to unmarried women?
       c.     Why were women expected to give birth to many children?
       d.     What features of Canadian life made child birth dangerous?

IV.    You will need to refer to earlier reading in order to answer the following:
