2. Standard
K.MKG3 Students will identify, create,
extend, and transfer patterns from one
representation to another using actions,
objects, and geometric shapes.
3. Teaching Patterns
The teacher will read Brown Bear, Brown Bear
and then discuss how patterns are used the book.
The teachers will explain what patterns are and
how patterns are created.
The teacher will explain how to determine what
will come next in the pattern.
Next the teacher will discuss with the class how
and where patterns occur, and also how we use
them everyday.
5. Technology with Patterns
• I would use the SMARTboard and the
website:http://www.pbs.org/parents/education/math/
games/preschool-kindergarten/pattern-matcher/.
• This website allows the students to click on the pattern
that comes next.
• Another way I would use technology would be to use
mini tablets, or children tablets( if available) for the
children to create their own patterns in the Art
program on the tablet.
