Dear Charley:
THANK YOU FOR HAVING INVITED ME TO YOUR PARTY LAST FRIDAY
The present letter is intended to show you my great appreciation for having invited me to your
Thanksgiving Day party last Friday, November 25 2022. You’ll be happy to know that I consider
it to have been the most amazing social gathering I have ever attended. I only say this because
everything about that night was perfect, down to the last detail.
I very much enjoyed celebrating this party in your incredible mansion, which is very comfortable
and, not to mention, vastly impressive in each of its architectural aspects. For example, the
gargoyles sitting on the columns by the entrance gate give your house sort of a gothic feel that I
enjoyed very much. But your house’s welcoming appearance and its marvelous architecture was
the least of my delights experienced that evening. Another aspect of you party that was very
noteworthy was the varied selection of musical artist that made their appearance there. One very
delightful performance was Maroon 5’s, when they sang “Moves like Jagger”. That being said,
Maroon 5 fails in comparison with Sting’s presentation last night, with his beautiful
interpretation of “Every Breath You Take”, a song from his earlier days, while he was still the
vocalist for The Police. It’s amazing how he can still sing so well at the old age of 71. Music
aside, however, I must offer you kudos on your delectable buffet last night. The food was
absolutely delicious. I especially enjoyed the shrimp cocktail, but not as much as the steamed
lobster I ate during the main course, which I believe it to have been to James liking as well. This
brings us to possibly the most important thing that happened to me that night at your party, and it
also might be the reason for why I am so grateful to you for having thrown that party, and having
invited me, as well James. I don’t know if you are already aware, but I sort of fancy James
McAvoy very much, and being with him at your party last night gave us the opportunity to hang

him in the buffet line. I was standing alone, holding some shrimp cocktail and softly swaying to
the fantastic music that was playing, when I heard his voice, smooth like velveteen, softly say
my name. I jumped, startled to find him there. He was wearing a very relaxed tuxedo, and his
smile looked more inviting then it ever had before. He approached me, and we began small
talking. At first, it was a little awkward, because I was nervous to be talking to him about such
casual subjects, like what music we both liked or how good the food was, but eventually I began
to feel very comfortable in his presence, more than I would with any other person. Before I knew
it, his face was no farther than three inches from mine, when suddenly Sting began to sing. He
asked me if I wanted to dance, and to my surprise, with no second thoughts, I said yes. After that
incredibly romantic slow dance, we stepped outside, to the large courtyard behind your house,
and were blessed with a beautiful starry sky. And it was there, with his arms tightly wrapped
around me, sharing warmth, that we shared the most magical kiss of my life.
All in all, none of this would’ve happened if you hadn’t invited me to that amazing party, and if
you hadn’t created the most delightful ambiance to experience all of this in. For all of this, I am
very grateful, and I’m looking forward to your next party. I wonder if you can make it all be as
spectacularly unforgettable as last night.
Gratefully,
Sofia Butterfields
