2. What makes a good Music Video
There are many things that you need to think about in order to create the
perfect music video
The location
The fashion
The timing
Relations to the song
And also.. Does it make sense?!
Once you have all of these correct in your video, then it should be just as
good as the song itself.
3. Location, Fashion and Timing
Just to confer, I will now explain what I mean when I say that the
location and fashion are important factors for a music video.
The location is an important factor to think about, does it link to the
song? Does it look like a realistic location? Is it a location where you
can film for your video whenever you want? If the answer to all of
these is yes, then that is the location for you.
The fashion of the people in the video needs to be
appropriate, and fairly casual, however, depending on the song
some extreme suits/party wear would be acceptable in a video
The timings of the video have to be the same as the song (actions in
the video match the words), otherwise it’ll be out of time and the
video won’t have a full effect on the song.

This is Issac’s music video, and I was really impressed
with it. The song is called “How To Destroy Angles” by Fur
Lined.
I like how they have used both of best world, some of
the video in black and white, being mysterious
maybe, and the other half being in colour.
The locations that are used are realistic and are easy to
get to for the filming.
They have thought about the fashion quite well, as they
have filmed the video with the girl in a casual dress.
I also love the range of camera shots and angles that
they have used, going from a low angle shot on the fast
paced part of the song, to a high angle shot on the
slower part of the song.
However, sometimes the girl in the music video was
singing out of time with the song, apart from this, it’s a
very well made video.
5. Bad

This video was made by a guy called Joe
Warren. I wasn’t impressed by this video. The
song is called “Viva la Vida” and is sung by
Coldplay.
The video was not in tune with the song, and
the signing was about a second off what it
was in the song.
The use of camera angles aren’t very big, as
they only use a few, and there hasn’t been
much editing as far as the video is
concerned, though there are a lot of cuts
which are parts of editing.
The locations picked weren’t great and had
no relevance to the
video/song, however, they are only students
and they are doing a big song so it might
have been quite difficult to find somewhere
they would have liked to.
6. Analysing Music Video’s
There are many ways in which you can analyse music video’s;
Location
Clothing/Dress wear
Does it match the genre? Do the people in the video look like a rapper for example?
Camera Angles
Are they in time? Do they express the emotions and feelings of the people in the video like the
song does?
Timing
Lip-sinking, is the singing in time with the video? Camera angles, are they all in time?
Brightness
Relation to the song
Does the video and the actions in it link any what to the actual song?
To make a good music video, you need to make sure that it ticks all of these
boxes
