1. Gran Vía Street “Gran Via” is one of the main streets of Madrid. It is a very important place of the city because of its commercial, tourist and leisure attraction.

3. This month it celebrates its 100 years (1910-2010) and throughout its history, it has had a lot of names. When the Civil War was over its name was changed to “Avenida de José Antonio”, but people called it “Gran Vía” until 1981 when this name was officially established.
4. Some important buildings are Metropolis, Telefonica, “Casa del Libro”, “Palacio de la Música” and “Plaza de España to Callao” section is well-known as “Broadway Madrileño”.
5. Nowadays, 5,000 cars pass through Gran Víaevery day, and at rush hours 185 buses do the same. It has got 41 hotels, 15 credit banks, 4 cinemas (they were 12 before), 3 theatres, 2 museums, 104 litter bins and 109 street lamps.
