  • 2. Why do I need to learn about internet safety?<br />Even though you can’t always see it, there are dangers that can exist on the internet!<br />Follow along with this presentation to learn some things to be careful of when online.<br />
  • 3. 1. Listen to your parents<br />Make sure your parents know when you are online.<br />Do not go to sites that your parents told you not to.<br />
  • 4. Show your parents all of the cool things you are learning to do online!<br />Play online games with mom and dad <br />
  • 5. 2. Personal Information<br />Sometimes, people on the internet don’t have good intentions.<br />It is important that you don’t share personal information with a stranger online!<br />
  • 6. Never give out personal information such as:<br />Your real name<br />Your address<br />Your telephone number<br />Your school<br />
  • 7. Never meet with someone that you met online unless you have permission.<br />Bring an adult with you if you want to meet a cyber pal!<br />
  • 8. Always tell an adult if someone online is being inappropriate or making you uncomfortable.<br />Never feel scared or embarrassed to tell.<br />
  • 9. 3. Cyber-bullying<br />Do not post rude or inappropriate comments about other people online.<br />Remember, anyone can see anything you post!<br />
  • 10. If you see something online that upsets you, talk to an adult about it.<br />Do not respond to any mean e-mails or posts, and tell a parent or teacher as soon as possible.<br />
  • 11. Never post pictures of yourself online without permission.<br />Do not post pictures of other people without their permission either. <br />
  • 12. If your parents give you permission to join a social networking site:<br />Have them help you set up the privacy.<br />Give them access to your account.<br />
  • 13. 4. Copyright<br />Do not take someone else’s words, pictures or thoughts without their permission.<br />You must give people credit for their ideas.<br />
  • 14. You cannot use or download music without the artist’s permission.<br />Use a program like itunes to legally download music.<br />
