Dynamic Gutters & Exteriors Ltd. is committed to reducing its carbon footprint. In 2010, the company's estimation trucks generated 19.49 metric tons of CO2 from driving 200KM per day to measure houses and deliver quotes, but now use GPS to plan more eco-friendly routes. The company's paper usage generated 2.5 metric tons of CO2 in 2010 from printing documents, but it now emails 95% of documents and prints faxes to PDF to minimize paper use. its carbon footprint.
According to Wikipedia, “carbon footprint” refers to:
The total set of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions caused by an
organization, event, product or person. Greenhouse gases can be
emitted through transport, land clearance, and the production and
consumption of food, fuels, manufactured goods, materials, wood,
roads, buildings, and services. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_footprint)
Dynamic Gutters & Exteriors Ltd. plans to reduce its carbon footprint
through analyzing numerous opportunities, such as:
Opportunity: In 2010, our estimation trucks generated 19.49 metric
tons of CO2 – driving on average 200KMs per working
day – measuring up houses for new gutters – and
delivering quotes.
Solution: All our estimation trucks now use GPS software to choose
Eco-Friendly routes. We often group individual quotes
based on city – and we sometimes designate certain days
to quote in certain cities.
Opportunity: In 2010, our in-office paper usage generated 2.5 metric
tons of CO2 – mostly for printing out customer quotes,
accounting invoices, receipts, and faxes.
Solution: We now e-mail approximately 95% of customer quotes,
accounting invoices, and receipts. Our fax machine also
prints to PDF files – so we rarely use paper in the office.
