Does Your Child Suffer From Asthma? How You Can Make A
Healthy Home
A lot of children have asthma, but when it is your child, it can be worrisome and life altering. Asthma
does not have to make your life stressful; if you can determine what triggers your child's asthma
attacks, life can be a lot more enjoyable. Until you can figure out exactly what is triggering the asthma
attacks, you can make your home as healthy as possible for your child. Learn what you can do to
make a healthy environment by reading the following article.

One thing that can really help your child is the air quality in your home. If there are irritants floating
around in your home's air, these can get in your child's lungs and bring on an attack. You can avoid
this by having a good air filtration system in your home that removes these irritants.

Another way you can make your home healthy is by removing all dust. Dust contains dust mites and
other materials that can really irritate the lungs of someone with asthma. By dusting your house on a
regular basis, at least every day or two, you are making the environment your child lives in a lot
healthier and lowering the risk of any asthma attacks.

Clean your child's bedding on a regular basis. Bedding can contain dust or other material that can
irritate your child's lungs. You need to make sure the area where your child spends a lot of time is
nice and clean and free of irritants.

You should also make sure your upholstered furniture is cleaned on a regular basis. Upholstered
furniture can contain a lot of irritants and they should be removed as often as possible.

If you can, limit how much carpeting there is in your home. Just like upholstered furniture, carpet can
hold a lot of lung irritants. It is good to vacuum often, but sometimes it is not enough. Carpet has
padding underneath, and a lot of times the padding and the carpet contains dust mites, mold and
other irritants.

Pet dander can trigger asthma attacks. If you have pets it is best to keep them outdoors. Even
outdoor pets can trigger attacks so be careful when your child is around pets until you know how they
are going to react.

Try not to have clutter around your home. Clutter can harbor dust and other asthma irritants. Do what
you can to keep clutter out of your home or at least to a minimum.

Having a child with asthma does require some changes to make sure they are as healthy as they can
possibly be. By making a few changes in your home and removing triggers, you can give your child a
healthier environment to live in and lower the risk of any asthma attacks. This article contained a few
of the things you can do to make your house healthier for your child. Try them out and hopefully your
child will experience less asthma attacks.
