Ultraljud är ljud med en frekvens högre än den översta 
gränsen för människans hörsel. Ultraljud definieras ofta 
som ljud med våglängd mindre än 17 millimeter i luft, 
det vill säga med frekvens högre än 20 000Hz. Någon 
övre frekvensgräns finns inte definierad.

*Infraljud är en vågrörelse, framför allt i luft, 
med en så låg frekvens (under 20 hertz) att 
den bara uppfattas av människan vid kraftiga 
ljudnivåer, och då i form av vibrationer. 
*Infraljud kan alstras av naturliga källor som 
strömmande luftmassor, strömmande vatten, 
åska och norrsken, men även av kraftverk, 
maskiner med mera. Infraljud genereras också 
av till exempel explosioner, raketstarter och 
överljudsflygplan.

Vi kan använda det när vi är med barn och när vi ska kolla hur 
djup en sjö är tillexempel.
