3. Tim O’ Brien An individual who was influenced by family was Tim O’ Brien from the story On The Rainy River. Tim O’ Brien’s family and their views on him, kept him from fleeing to Canada and not going to the war. O’ Brien couldn’t abandon or disappoint his family because family was so important to him. He went to the war he didn’t believe in, to avoid letting his family down.
