How to clean epoxy flooring effectively
1. How To Clean Epoxy Flooring Effectively
Epoxy flooring material is a universal favorite when it comes to domestic
applications such as the garage floor or a patio and are also used in a variety of
commercial applications. The material is so popular because it offers much
easier cleaning options and it can withstand wear and tear from heavy duty
usage. However, to make your floor appear always clean and sparkling, you
need to approach the cleaning in the recommended manner.
Before embarking on the actual cleaning, sweep and dispose off all the debris on
the floor. If the floor has a layer of loose dirt, you can use a water hose to pre-
rinse it and make the eventual wash much easier. This later idea only works if
the floor has a good drainage system and if there is no risk of ruining anything
with too much water.
Mix the special cleaning solution with warm water according to instructions. Do
not use ordinary detergents as these may cause scouring and fading of the floor.
The cleaning solution is specially formulated to be PH neutral and therefore
effective in removing grime but gentle on the flooring material.
Use a clean rayon mop to clean the floor starting with the farthest corner and
moving systematically towards the door. Rayon mops are much preferred to the
ones made of cotton as they will not snag on any uneven areas. They are also
not going to leave behind fluff the way mops made of synthetic material such as
polyester are likely to do.
If the mop leaves behind any excess water on the epoxy flooring, use a
squeegee to get rid of it. It is important to ensure that the floor is completely dry
before leaving. This will ensure that mold growth is limited and there is no risk of
someone leaving mud on the floor when they walk in.
