2. MEGA RADIO
Mega Radio is a specialist radio station that plays music listened to by
15-29year olds, such as drum&bass, grime, bassline, garage, dupstep
and jungle. We will broadcast through TV and DAB radio and also
through internet, this is because our target audience will prefer to listen
through these formats. We are also going to offer podcasts to
download from our website, so that our listeners can listen on their ipods.
There is a gap in the market for this station as urban music is becoming
popular and the only station that broadcasts in/to hampshire that
supplies urban music is radio 1xtra
3. LISTENER PROFILE
Name: Ella Smith

weekend, whilst studying at college
during the week

weekends to bars, pubs, and raves.
4. JACK FM
Jack FM is classed as Adult Contemporary and broadcasts on
DAB radio and FM radio. JackFM plays music that they want to
play, this is different to other station, somehow it works with jack
because the music they do play attracts a good audience. Also
the humour jack offers attract quite a few viewers. Rajar figures
show that jackFMs population is 1,708,000. Jack Fm won’t be to
much competition for Mega Radio as they don’t attract the same
audience nor play the same music.
5. RADIO 1XTRA
Radio 1xtra offers a specialist format of music, such as
urban music much like Mega Radio, it broadcasts on DAB,
FM and tv radio, you can also listen live over the internet.
Rajar figures show that each week they get 1,114,000
listeners a week. They provide competitions to get tickets
and meet famous urban artists. This station attract quite a
large audience and will be Mega Radios biggest
competition.

Capital FM offers music classed as Contemporary
Hit, and broadcasts on DAB and FM radio. It has around
164,000 listeners per week. This station isn’t going to be
much competition for Mega radio as they don’t attract
the same audience and they have different ways of
broadcasting.
8. CONCLUSION
In conclusion, my station’s biggest competition is going to be
Radio 1xtra this mean Mega Radio is going to have to Bring a little
extra to the station, maybe more entertaining presenters, to do this
I would do a questionnaire and find out what my target wants from
a presenter and then find the perfect one. Also we would have to
find good prizes for the competitions to draw audiences in. Good
advertising will have to be a big part of getting known as well.
