How does your media product
 represent particular social
         groups?
I don't really think my magazine
                                                    has a stereotypical group as a
                                                    target audience, but my
                                                    magazine was aimed at
                                                    readers between 16-30 years
                                                    old that have an interest in
                                                    song writing and acoustic
                                                    music.




The right image is the image I used on the cover of my magazine, and the left
image is of an acoustic/folk artist called Laura Marling.
I think that these artist look very similar in the way they are dressed. Both are
wearing plain, basic clothes, this portrays that they are not as worried about
their looks unlike mainstream pop artists. This helps to reinforce the folky genre
of the magazine.
I think that their poses are very similar as well. They both look a little unaware
that the image was being taken, making the pose seem very natural. Also the
way that both of their hair styles are natural, and how both artists have natural
coloured hair helps to represent an easy going, young social group.
The left image is an
                                                                 acoustic/indie artist called
                                                                 Lucy Rose. The right image is
                                                                 similar to the image I chose
                                                                 to include on my contents.

                                                                 I think that without an
                                                                 instrument you cannot tell
                                                                 that either of these artists are
                                                                 musicians. Yet, I think that the
                                                                 way the hold themselves
                                                                 suggests confidence. I think
                                                                 that the reader will notice this
                                                                 and want to relate to these
                                                                 artists.

Again, both artists have a natural pose, without an excessive amount of make-up or hair
style. I think that this will reflect my target audience as the readers will feel as though they
could relate to the artists as they are similar to their own style, or like this easy-going style
and want to be like these artists.
I have tried to represent my magazines target social group by including aspects of their
interests on image of the artist or how the artist responds to the questions in the interview.
For example, in the interview there is a question about image, and the artist replies in a way
which shows that she doesn’t think that it’s important. I think that this reflects the social
group I am aiming AWE magazine at perfectly.
