this is only a small set of a much larger data set. Continue to select hybrids and varieties based on long term trends and
on performance at multiple locations. For more detailed yield comparisons, along with individual plots from your area,
visit www.pioneer.com/yield. Contact your local Pioneer sales professional for more local information and to help you
place the right product on your acres. We value your business. Please be safe this busy harvest season.
2013 Growing Season In Perspective
1. Weather was the big topic that impacted all of us again
this past season. Most of Minnesota struggled to get
corn planted before May 20. Prevented planted acres
hit SE MN especially hard.
2. Heat stress during the pollination period and ear filling
period stressed many hybrids. Products that have early
silk dates along with good heat stress showed advantages this fall. For example: Pioneer® P9526AMX™
brand corn, P9834AMX™, P9917AMX™, P0193AM™,
P0297AMX™, P0533AMX™.
3. Late Summer drought is becoming the norm as it
affected a large portion of the upper Midwest again in
2013. This period of drought and heat stress was both
beneficial in that it pushed later planted crops to maturity, yet took the top-end off what could have been a
remarkable corn and bean crop.
4. Stalk integrity was challenged in some hybrids by nutrient deficiencies and late season moisture stress.
5. Beautiful stretches of weather in August and September allowed crops to catch up in development.
6. Later frost dates allowed later planted corn to reach
maturity, lose kernel moisture and improve test
weight.
Data is from Minnesota Ag Statistics showing precipitation departure
from normal. Many
areas prior to October 14 were severely deficient for
the growing season. Recent rainfall
has been a nuisance
for
field
work, yet it is still
very welcome for
recharging subsoil
reserves.

2. The results are coming in this fall with several of our new Pioneer ® brand corn hybrids performing at a high level. The following tables give an overview of the main 2013 Pioneer corn hybrids and soybean varieties that are being sold in Central
and Southern Minnesota. With soybean harvest wrapping up, we have a lot of yield data available from multiple locations.
Our new Pioneer brand T-Series soybeans continue to show their yield advantages. Growers across Minnesota plant
more of their soybean acres to Pioneer than any other soybean brand.
