In what ways does your media
    product use, develop or
      challenge forms and
   conventions of real media
           products?
One way in which we followed the conventions of music video was having a black and white theme
throughout our music video. This follows the conventions of indie style music video, so we thought that it did
suit our music video, so we decided to use it throughout our own video. We slightly challenge and change it
throughout though, we done this by having some shot in colour, we done this because it would then draw
the attention of our target audience to the clips that are in colour and show the importance of those clips and
what they represent in our video.




Another convention that we used was having footage of the couple fighting, we decided to use this because
is follows our narrative and also it gives the audience an insight of what the couple is like. Another artist that
done this was Eminem ft Rihanna ‘Love the way you lie’ the fighting helps emphasis the relationship
between the characters towards to the audience, it also appeals to them as they will want to know why they
are like that and what it going to happen throughout the rest of the video. Also because this is happening so
often in real life the audience could be able to relate to what is happening
Throughout our music video we also repeated shots, we used this conventions of music videos
  because it could show to the target audience that the feelings and the relationship keeps going
  on and there is no conclusion about what is going to happen. It also could mean that she is
  unable to escape from what is going on only he can, this is because the only shots that are
  repeated are of the female character rather than the male character as well.




One other convention that we used was the costume and the way that the female character has acted on and
around the camera. One shot we have is Jess crying, this is going to attract the audience and help the
audience to sympathise towards Jess about what is happening to her relationship throughout the video and this
is going to her. I Think that this will appeal to the target audience as they will be able to also relate to this
through personal experiences throughout their life. The way that Jess also looked throughout the video was
also a main convention that we used. Throughout the video, we tried to have Jess to create as much as an
indie look as possible. One shot where we done this was by having her wear a bowlers hat also by wearing a
chequered shirt and leather looking leggings. This is going to appeal to the audience because if the artists and
the audience are wearing similar clothing this is showing a connection between the two. This is then going to
create a feeling to the audience that they are similar people and can relate to that.
•   One way that we managed to challenge the conventions of media was by having text
    and lyrics being overlaid on top of the footage throughout our music video. We decide
    to do this because we thought that it would make words and parts of the lyrics stand
    out to the audience, so they would be able to understand the song and what it is all
    about more. For example we wrote ‘Through the tears’ we thought that this would be
    a good lyric to have up on the screen as it gives the audience an insight to what their
    relationship is and what is it doing to that character in particular. The audience might
    be able to also relate to what this character is feeling and feel like they aren’t the only
    ones. Before we started creating our music video, only one or two professional artists
    had done this, but during and since we have finished creating our video a lot more
    professionals have started using this idea. For example Rihanna ‘You Da One’ and
    Daley ft Jessie J ‘Remember Me’ are just some of the artists who have started
    featuring the lyrics in their music videos.
•   Another convention that we challenged was by overlaying clips on top of
    each other. We decided to do this because it made our video look different
    from other people’s around us. We also decided to do this because if we
    repeating any clips then it made them look different from the first time round
    when they have been featured in the music video. It also means that the
    clips could more interlink in with the music video and you can see a
    connection with the video and the lyrics. For example we used a clip of a
    guitar with also Charlie featured on top of it. This is then showing to the
    audience that Charlie personality and attitude is based around the rock star
    image by the guitar. Another shot that we used over laying was different
    clips of Jess and Charlie. This was showing the constant relationship
    between the two characters also when they are both on the screen and
    lyrics such as ‘Love you till the end of time’ its showing her love towards him
    to the audience and they are able to look into their relationship and could
    relate to this themselves.
The conventions of a digipak and advertisements of a artists are
there normally there to promote and symbolise the artist. The main
conventions are:
• Recognisable font and using the same font throughout their
products
• The colours that are used
• Symbolic objects
For example Tinie Tempah is know for the font that he used
throughout all of his products also by the bright and mixed up
colours that he used in his background. A symbolic object that he
is also well known for is he Ray Ban glasses. As he has always
worn these throughout his digipaks, photo shoots and concerts
everyone knows him by these glasses and when ever they see him
they are always expecting his to be wearing these. These are the
star persona that goes along with Tinie Tempah.
One convention that we have stuck to throughout our digipak and adverts is the text that we have
used. Throughout both of these we have used the same type of text, this is because we wanted
this to be a convention that ‘Zsa Zsa’ I well known for and that when the target audience see’s
this type of text is reminds them of her.




  Another convention that we have used is the colours, the colours that we have used are all
  natural and basic colours. We thought that we would use these as they also go along with our
  music video, by being natural and basic, but the birds and fields as well as using black as white
  throughout it. From the audience point of view this would be something that you can see go
  together and match one another, this will then be showing the links between the two media
  pieces and make that audience think that they do together. This is a main convention because
  that audience is able to recognise them and then in the future can bring them together and know
  who she is because of the similar conventions.
